The Gas Operations Training Team is a dynamic group within PG&E Academy that focuses on strategically aligning itself with Gas Operations. Our shared goal is to create the safest, most reliable gas operating system in the industry. Position Summary

The Technical Instructor will be part of a high-performance learning organization where teamwork, initiative, technical, and facilitation skills form the foundation of outstanding learning success. The position will primarily be delivering training classes at the San Ramon Valley Conference Center and at the Gas Operations Training Center in Winters California opening in April 2017. This Instructor will lead the training efforts for employees who perform duties related to Gas Pipeline Operations and Maintenance. This position may require travel throughout the system approximately 20% of the time to deliver courses or do site visits. This position requires that the instructor be flexible to change and adapt to changes in course dates, locations and or curriculum at times. This group is very energetic and requires 60% hands on with the various equipment in our flow lab and desk top SCADA, Electrical, and other trainers. This position will also be a part of a once in a career opportunity to commission and start-up a state-of the-art instrumentation , Regulation, Metering Flow lab at the new Gas Operations Training facility. This 6000+ square foot facility will be the most highly advanced facility in the industry when opened.


• High School Diploma or GED
• Journey level or equivalent experience in respective technical trade
• Journey Level Gas Control Technician
• College degree or higher level education
• Technical Training Certification (COMPTIA) or equivalent, certification must be completed within 12 months of employment


• Act as a subject matter expert in the classroom
• Observes, coaches and mentors to build student technical understanding, skills, expertise and confidence
• Collaborate with Curriculum Development to update and develop course curriculum, materials and training aids
• Conduct Operator Qualification assessments and reviews
• Deliver course curriculum to students in classroom and simulated field environment
• Evaluates student performance in alignment with program goals and objectives and provides feedback
and reports to clients on performance and progress
• Reads, interprets and applies technical standards in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Tests and monitors student knowledge and understanding
• Work closely with the Concord Test Lab to facilitate journeyperson training
