Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Improves processes and efficiencies in the department.
Contributes to the overall goals of effective vegetation control around company assets for more safe and reliable electric service.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

5 years of related experience.

May required travel approximately 20% of the time.

*International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Utility
*Registered Professional Forester (RPS)
*Certified Quality Auditor
*Broad understanding of the electric utility industry including
operations processes.
*Knowledge of vegetation management concepts, methods and
practices, including regulatory requirements.
*Advanced data reporting and analytical skills.
*Knowledge of financial planning and forecasting.
*Project management and team leadership knowledge and skill.
*Advanced business acumen.
*Excellent organizational, prioritization and adaptability to
manage multiple and competing requests and priorities.
*Excellent customer service skills to effectively deal with
external and internal customers/clients.
*Good communication and interpersonal skills.
*Advanced proficiency with MS Office products such as Excel and/or


Responsibilities generally fall into the following areas, although specific assignments may vary.
*Contractor/Vendor Process Administration

oCollaborates with Supervisor to manage relationships for multiple vendors/contractors. Ensures proper systems set up and processing of change orders and other vendor work.

oEnters/Sets up new or modified contracts and registers vendors in the contract management system. Partners with the Vegetation Management Operations team and the Sourcing Department to finalize contractlanguage for contract work authorizations (CWAs) and/or new or modified short form contracts.
Forwards proposed contract drafts to Manager for review and approval.
oPartners with vendors/contractors on new or revised processes, ensuring complete training, communication and support.
oDevelops new or revised contractor/vendor training materials.
Provides system training to new contractors and ongoing contractor support and customer service.
oDevelops new administrative processes to improve efficiency.
Leads process improvement team and implementation.
oManages the contract invoicing system and ensures accurate invoice data entry by contractors. Ensures accuracy of information in
the contractor database. Updates contractor information and rates regularly.
*Systems Support
oPartners with the department Business System Specialist on systems/tools issues, enhancements, administration and user support.
May lead some system or tool upgrade and enhancement projects, including development & writing of user requirements, user testing and rollout.
Proposes ideas to Supervisor and Manager for approval.
oProactively recognizes when contractor retroactive billing is needed and provides justification and analysis to the manager for approval.
*Financial Planning/Budgeting Process & Tool Admin/Management
oDevelops new department financial planning tools to facilitate annual budgeting and regular forecasting updating processes and systems.
Ensures the budgeting/forecasting tool is ready for each planning cycle.
Uploads necessary SAP data into the budget planning tool. Verifies accurateness/completeness and makes tool available to operations team to enter quarterly forecast updates. Reviews forecast data, ensures all
information is complete. Summarizes quarterly forecasting results and provides to Supervisor.
oLeads team(s) to develop new types of reports/metrics and makes
recommendations for improved interfaces with alternate data sources to enhance department planning and decision making.
Reviews data, identifies anomalies and researches to resolve issues. Explores the implications of the data and develops conclusions and recommendations.
oMay partner with the operations team to research transmission
outages to identify vegetation related causes. Prepares a summary
report and presents to Manager.
oManages Audit responses for external agency audits (CAISO).
*Customer Complaints oMonitors the department inbox for customer issues. Provides timely response and partners with the operations team to gather information, assess the situation and develop a recommended course of action. Assists in coordination of the resolution for compliance
related customer issues.
*Regulatory Proceeding/Case Support
oLeads the department's regulatory filing processes including writing, preparing testimony, forecasting expenses, assisting witness preparation, handling inquiries and research.
*Other special projects or assignments may include: conducting
vendor or other internal VM tool training, leading the department safety
training, processes and procedures and ensuring all employees required
safety training is complete, leading the updating, maintenance and
coordination of documents for the department.
*May assist in leading or mentoring lower level peers.
*General knowledge of vendor sourcing practices, proposal evaluation and contracting.
*General knowledge of SAP contracting database and record keeping.
*Competency in reviewing and comparing proposals with conflicting information.
