Department Overview

Gas Operations is on a mission to become the safest, most reliable gas company in the U.S. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

The Gas Transmission & Distribution General Construction (GC) department is responsible for providing construction services to the PG&E gas transmission and distribution facilities in Northern and Central California. The Department is also responsible for safely and efficiently executing an annual capital spend of over $600 million and an expense spend of over $300 million. Additionally, the department installs electric distribution substructures and assists in storm response when required. The department is comprised of over 800 dedicated men and women working as a team to achieve the mission of the organization.

Position Summary

The Director, Gas Transmission & Distribution (T&D) General Construction, North is responsible for leading the Gas Distribution General Construction organization within Gas T&D Maintenance and Construction (M&C) for PG&E's north region. This Director is responsible for safely and efficientily installing new and replacing existing gas pipelines and facilities in accordance with the investment plan. Construction work includes hydro testing, pipeline replacement, Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure validation digs and in line inspections. Pipeline replacement includes the replacement of plastic, steel and cast iron using the most efficient trenchless method of excavation such as horizontal directional drilling, pipe bursting, inserting, and pneumatic drilling.

The Director must be able to travel 25% of the time with occasional overnight stays.

The position reports to the Senior Director of Gas T&D Construction. The Director's organization is primarily comprised of the erfollowing:
- Gas Transmission & Distribution General Construction superintendents, supervisors, field engineers, various physical works, and clerical and support employees (the majority of the workforce is represented by IBEW 1245 and Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC).
- Contract resources perfroming inspection and construction work on behalf of PG&E.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

10 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the utility industry or other construction-related field, including:
5 years of experience in gas utility maintenance and construction organization
5 years of experience in a leadership role
Experience working in a unionized environment

CA Driver's License

• Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Travel within PG&E service territory is required

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Construction Management,or other technial discipline.
Experience interfacing directly with regulatory agencies
Program management experience
Construction management experience
