Department Overview

PG&E's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Unit is comprised of three lines of business: Timber and Timberland Management, Vegetation Management Services, and Transmission Line Access Road Maintenance.
-Timber and Timberland Management: Involves the management of approximately 52,000 acres of PG&E owned timberland. Registered Professional Foresters, Certified Arborists, and Pest Control Advisors are dedicated to maintaining forest resources on PG&E's watershed lands as well as enhancing environmental quality.
-Vegetation Management Services provide comprehensive vegetation management assistance to internal clients on PG&E owned land, facilities, and right of ways including canals, gas lines, telecommunication sites and substations. Services provided include weed and brush control, brush removal, tree removal, pesticide applications and vegetation management plans.
-Access Road Maintenance involves the annual maintenance and repair of all roads used to access PG&E's transmission lines.

Position Summary

The Land Consultant will be responsible for supporting Power Generation primarily in the Southern Hydro Region by overseeing the Vegetation and Timber Management Program. This includes overseeing hazard tree removals to protect Power Generation assets and general vegetation management to facilitate operation and/or protection of PG&E generation projects. In addition, the position oversees the management and stewardship of PG&E's southern area lands, including coastal properties and Sierra timberlands throughout the region. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be willing to collaborate with several Federal and State agencies, and integrate well with interdisciplinary teams at PG&E.
The position will require approximately 50-75% travel time throughout PG&E's Southern Service Area.


• Bachelors Degree in Natural Sciences or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
• Possess a valid California Class C Drivers License
• Experience in project management, 4yrs
• Experience in contract management
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products
• Proficient in the use of GIS applications
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and achieve team goals
• Demonstrated ability in budget forecasting, planning and management
• Knowledge and experience in the application of pesticides
• Demonstrated experience in governmental agency and NGO interaction
• Strong organizational skills
• High degree of self-motivation
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Working knowledge of federal and state environmental/biological permit requirements
• Personality traits that are consistent with becoming a strong team player that encourages and promotes others over themselves
• California Registered Professional Forester License
• Pest Control Advisor
• Qualified Applicator License
• ISA Certified Arborist
• MS degree in Natural Resources or related field
• Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
• Working knowledge of sensitive species (rare, threatened, endangered) issues
