This is a NASA Test Evaluation and Support contract position; it may be assigned to Jacobs Technology Inc. or a teammate company. Must be able to apply working knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks in working on mechanical systems or components. Must be able to develop, checkout, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot and modify structural, hydraulic, propellant, pneumatic, fluid and rocket engine systems. Must be familiar with and employ contamination control techniques required to maintain flight systems cleanliness specifications. Must mockup and fabricate new systems, as required, to support test programs. Must be able to perform these duties with limited supervision or limited technical guidance. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as fluid systems schematics, safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, manufacturer's manuals and other similar documents. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Performs work and maintains work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Performs related duties as required.

Candidate must have a minimum of (2) years of recently obtained (within 10 years) applicable experience or equivalent related civilian or military trade school training. Applicable experience is based on stainless steel fabrication skills and experience in operating or troubleshooting of mechanical systems. Candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Candidate must pass a physical examination as determined by the White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) and Jacobs Engineering for this job classification. Candidate must be able to apply working knowledge to perform simple and routine tasks when working on mechanical systems or components. Candidate must be able to perform these duties with limited supervision or limited technical guidance. Candidate must have an understanding and ability to interpret safety regulations, fluid system schematics and operational procedures. Candidate must be able to write and maintain accurate records, routine reports and utilize electronic correspondence. Candidate must perform quality work in a timely manner and maintain work area in a neat, orderly, safe manner. Special physical requirements will be the ability to regularly lift 40 lbs. (Occasionally lift 50 lbs.), ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, and be capable of working in respirator and/or totally encapsulated suit ("TES" qualification or equivalent).

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements: Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, climbing of stairs, and ability to access to remote structures. Specific physical requirements will be the ability to regularly lift 50lbs. Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, and be capable of working in respirator and totally encapsulating suit ("TES" - ILC Dover, Respirex or other).

Work Environment: Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. Uneven surfaces exist in office and shop areas and must be traversed. Must be able to function as a member of a team in a fast paced environment. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. Work may extend to laboratory, shop, or test environments.

Equipment and Machines: Will be expected to operate a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to: saws (band saws, reciprocating saws, metal-cutting abrasive disc saws, etc.), grinders, tube flaring and welding equipment, metal brakes, various types of drilling devices, material handling and moving equipment, handheld radios. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment may be required to perform assigned duties.

Attendance: Attendance and punctuality are essential in this highly collaborative environment. Overtime work may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. If applicable to the specific job assignment, must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must maintain access to government owned facilities and computer systems.
