The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Strategist is an expert technology position usually responsible for providing knowledge, techniques and/or capabilities that are recognized as industry leading and rare in the marketplace. The selected candidate will work with clients to understand their business needs and objectives while verifying the solution against functional/technical requirements to meet these needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate project-wide risk management to include potential impacts on meeting task goals in cost, schedule, scope, and quality, and rank risks using a probability and impact matrix
  • Advise and assist in the design of business processes, definition of application functionality, beginning-to-end data mapping and the integration of data within and between various systems (legacy and ERP-related)
  • Assist with development of IMS including all major milestones, critical path activities, responsible organizations, responsible individuals, precedent steps, and deliverables
  • Build bottom up, feasible strategies by working with business SMEs and stakeholders to identify and create requirements, process maps and business cases
  • Support the development of a phased transition strategy for sustainment, document detailed operational and technical requirements of each sustainment activity and role, and support the development of recommended strategies for effective transition
  • Work with stakeholders to generate Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation, development of Scope of Work (SOW) and assist in the development of Acquisition Strategy (AS).The ERP Strategist will develop recommended Army Shared Services Center (SSC) performance metrics and tracking methods, phased staffing plans, position description documentation, provide acquisition support across a variety of disciplines to include acquisition strategy development, lifecycle management planning, risk management, and program office execution
  • Support the implementation strategies for common tools and processes to be employed by the Army SSC
  • Develop detailed business requirements to deliver the project as specified by the customer
  • Establish integrated, detailed project plans with critical path milestones which ensure deliverables are understood, dependencies are identified and then managed appropriately
  • Manage scope changes to facilitate controlled and agreed upon changes to projects while determining potential scope creep and necessary mitigation strategies
  • Manage project progress on schedule, identify risks and drive to mitigation strategies with customer

The ERP Strategist must have:

  • The ability to efficiently, effectively and appropriately establish and manage expectations through verbal and written communication and demonstrate the ability to effectively listen and comprehend
  • Knowledge of the existing Army ERPs and their implementation, use and configuration (specifically Logistics Modernization Program (LMP), Global Combat Support Systems - Army (GCSS-Army) and Army Enterprise System Integration Program (AESIP)
  • Project management experience is highly desirable
  • The ability to multi-task without missing deadlines and adjust quickly to changes in requirements with little lead time
  • Strong, professional work ethic and demonstrated team player
  • Self-directed with a strong ability to manage ambiguity and who adapts readily and easily to changes in priorities and business conditions

The selected candidate should be a self-motivated individual that takes complete ownership of any project to ensure the success while collaborating and bringing in other "owners" when necessary to the project.

Travel may be required and is estimated at 25% - 35%.
This position requires a Bachelors Degree in a Technical Discipline or related field and 14 years of relevant experience with, OR 12 years relevant experience with a Masters Degree in a Technical Discipline or related field OR 18 years of total related experience. The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance is required.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:
Inside office environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).

Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required. Must be able to lift and carry 15 lbs.

Equipment and Machines:
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.

Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice.

Other Essential Functions:
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
