The incumbent will be responsible for driving profitable growth in the Hydro Africa portfolio through increasing sales of GE's world class Hydro equipment, retrofit/services solutions in Southern Africa. The role will continue to develop existing customer relationships as well as develop new clients and coordinate with the Hydro Business support and Central functions and global Hydro sales organization. This position reports to the Africa Sales leader is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Essential Responsibilities

- Accountable for contributing to commercial growth and achieving financial targets within Africa
- Leads the commercial activity of opportunities for the Hydro Business within the region/country from opportunity identification and pre-positioning
- Co-leads with Commercial Operations the selection of opportunities.
- Ensure active positioning of GE solutions on service and retrofit opportunities by understanding customer needs, value drivers and decision making process
- Develop new retrofit and service opportunities by working pro-actively with customer to develop value proposition and GE solutions
- Manage relationship with key region hydro customers
- Cooperates with Africa Region Sales leader to drive customer intimacy with all keys decision makers and influencers, mapping and strategy development for a given Customer.
- Develops co-creation of new customer oriented solutions to meet customer needs
- Accountable for quarterly commercial performance (Budget vs Forecast vs actual) and pacing
- Drives a culture of opportunity visibility, accountability and data accuracy
- Works with absolute integrity and full adherence to the Ethics and Compliance rules
- Contributes to focused campaigns on broader Market opportunities, to overall profitable growth strategy


Bachelor's degree / Business school/ Engineering

Above 10 years of Sales/Commercial experiences of which at least 5 in the Hydro industry in the designated regional market place. Strong track record of sales result and sales leadership results

- Fluent in English, French and Portuguese
- Existing relationships with key GE Hydro customers in Southern Africa
- Experience and success in setting commercial vision and results oriented
- Ability to influence cross functional Business teams to drive sales strategy and growth in the country
- Proven successes in managing complex sales projects and implement appropriate partnerships with stakeholders inside and outside the country
- Deep knowledge of country market and competitive issues
- Demonstrated deep services knowledge
- Passion for customer success: demonstrated collaboration skills with co-creation of new customer oriented solution to meet customer needs
- Understand Customer business models and leverage Hydro Business solutions to create customer competitive advantage
- Previous experience in commercial operations with deep understanding of proposal development process and tools
- Strong presence with outstanding presentation, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel 50%+
