Position Summary

This position reports directly to the ECAP Manager of the Enterprise Programs Department. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge in cause analysis and working knowledge with SAP.

The position will lead a team of approximately four employees, which will be responsible for cause analysis, corrective actions, trending, effectiveness reviews, and other key deliverables associated with implementation of the Corrective Action Program (CAP) across the enterprise. This CAP process addresses the capture, evaluation, and analysis (including root cause analyses) of asset-related failures, incidents, nonconformities, employee feedback, and other issues; the development and completion of cause analysis; corrective and preventive action plans; monitoring and trending; effectiveness review plans; reporting of program health metrics: and the overall coordination of related activities for the enterprise.

The team will also coach and mentor various lines of business on cause analysis and associated CAP processes.

The candidate will have strong leadership skills, analytical expertise, written and verbal proficiency, team building competency, strong interpersonal skills, and problem solving acuity, with the ability to lead and influence others. This position requires someone that can work effectively in a dynamic work environment and quickly reprioritize as emergent issues arise. The competitive candidate will also exhibit a strong interest in, commitment to and strategic vision for improving human performance, processes and technology for the safety of our employees and public. The work headquarters location is San Francisco, California with occasional travel to other locations in the PG&E system.

The candidate must have the ability to accommodate 20% travel.

Qualifications

Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 7 years of progressive experience in utility operations or in other regulated industry
• 2 years of experience with corrective action and/or performance improvement programs
• Proficient with SAP and Microsoft Office Tools
• Knowledge in technical/professional concepts and in the use of a variety of data analysis tools
• Cause evaluation certification, e.g., HFACS, RCA, ACE, 5-Whys, Fault Tree Analysis or similar

Desired:
• 3 years of experience in a supervisory role
• MBA or equivalent graduate degree
• Experience with causal evaluation methods and investigations in the utility industry
• Ability to create, promote and manage a safe work environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to develop and manage budgets, expenses, variances
• Certified Lean Six Sigma
• Familiar with quality management systems

Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP
•Ensure Safety is a priority for self and team and meet all safety requirements.
•Ensure group alignment with the department vision, strategies and goals and ensure effective implementation of the Corrective Action Program system tools and deliverables.
•Lead a team of approximately four employees and also interact and work with other teams of cross-functional employees on project basis. •Lead CAP operational meetings
•Apply knowledge of the business to advance organizational goals.
•Lead personnel, including mentoring, conducting analysis, managing development plans, identifying training opportunities, industry participation, and proper onboarding of new employees and support for their successful transition into the company/workgroup.
•Promote organizational growth with emphasis on removing team obstacles, empowerment and professional development of each team member, continuous improvement, and constructive feedback to ensure collective success.
TEAMWORK
•Collaborate and work with business partners across the enterprise such as Gas, Safety and Shared Services, Electric, Power Generation, and Information Technology.
•Understand the business and make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
•Build collaborative relationships and influence all levels including senior management
•Provide expertise to other business units to promote techniques, processes, and improvement measures and to help others build quality principles into their developing organizations and processes.
•Collaborate seamlessly with other Supervisors within the department to help build a strong, cohesive, and educated team and assure common alignment on department vision, goals, and principals.
COMMUNICATION
•Communicate and work effectively with personnel at all levels.
•Coach employees and clients on matters related to CAP.
DESIGN/BUILD/ANALYZE DUTIES •Leverage the department data, knowledge through trending, and inputs from other business units so the team can focus on high priority items to help mitigate and reduce areas of risk.
•Strive to understand roles in processes and programs and uncover pinch points and gaps that need to be addressed.
•Solve unique and complex problems, anticipate issues and develop innovative solutions.
•Assist in development and maintenance of an over-arching Corrective Action Program dashboard which conveys key performance metrics and trends.
OTHER MANAGERIAL DUTIES
•Potentially supervise contractors and manage contractor agreements, assignments and costs.
•Work with business partners to develop, review, approve, manage and/or support the development and implementation of processes, procedures, communications, and training programs in support of the CAP program.
•Performs quality reviews of analysis and reporting by CAP team members.
•Review and report on quality systems work and progress.
•Ensure staff is qualified, promote certification of employees and ensure staff continues to keep their skills and training up-to-date.
•Conduct and provide cause analysis, quality closure reviews, and effectiveness review to support adequate resolution if issues entered in CAP.
