Responsible for managing the completion of the construction portion of the project in accordance with the project and company policies and procedures. The Construction Manager will implement the Construction Management Plan ensuring there are sufficient resources available to; prevent injury or harm to the employees, prevent harm to the environment or damage to property; complete the work on time and on budget; meet all project quality requirements.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and guide contractors to ensure their compliance with the HSE Plan
  • Provide and maintain a safe working environment and manage the Safety and Environmental performance of all personnel on site. Achievement of the Project Safety and Environmental Targets
  • Ensure that safety is an integral component of all construction planning and processes
  • Be familiar with construction work and permit procedures and statutory requirements
  • Provide visible HSE leadership
  • Plan work activities and identify hazards and controls in consultation with employees
  • Conduct and record site inspections and risk assessments (including Hazard ID, risk analysis and control)
  • Participate in the resolution of HSE issues
  • Communicate and report on HSE issues/incidents (e.g. toolbox meetings)
  • Assure accountability of employees and sub-contractors
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the Project Quality Plan
  • Execute the construction portion of project plans through detailed planning and day-to-day direction of field activities
  • Preparation of manning and cost forecasts
  • Management of a multi-discipline site team
  • Control of changes to agreed plan - scope, time, cost, technical
  • Establishes and implements construction schedules, methods, manning charts, material and equipment requirements
  • Controls all jobsite expectations for labour, equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within the budget
  • Responsible for all jobsite labour relations and co-ordinates the activities with representative groups
  • Authorise construction planning, programming and completion schedules
  • Recommend engagement of subcontractors and all major subcontract variations
  • Supervises all personnel at the site through subordinate leaders
  • Manages project indirect overhead budgets and develops fiscal plans
  • Monitors performance and utilization; provides periodic projects
  • Functions as liaison between engineering and construction sites
  • Responsible for constructability and construction planning during engineering phase
  • Keeping the Project Manager informed of problems and issues pertaining to project during the construction execution
  • Organize & hold construction kick off meeting, weekly construction meeting with subcontractors & internal meeting
  • Supervising and coordinating Supervisors assigned to the project
  • Resolving and coordinating with the inter discipline trades on construction issues during the project execution phase
  • Monitoring of projects to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures ,quality ,contract and schedule requirements
  • Assisting the Project Manager in the selection and approval of subcontractors
  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating the assignment of field staff personnel
  • Maintaining close liaison with the Client team to promote good relations
  • Monitoring the execution and updating of detailed field work schedules and coordinating subcontractors using the construction schedule and budget
  • Supervising and monitoring the execution of all subcontractors' works to ensure that all contract items and conditions are fulfilled and that the installation is in accordance with plans, specifications and good practices
  • Reviewing and approving all field changes to the scope of the project prior to the changes being made
  • Overall responsibility of site/construction implementation
  • Manage the construction implementation in full compliance with Safety, Cost and Schedule as well as QA & QC
  • Constructability review and recommendation to support engineering and enhance constructability flow
  • Manage the Pre-construction Planning, Procurement and Execution strategy
  • Managing the manpower and resources planning and mobilization allocation
  • Driven a Construction & Commissioning driven project strategy
  • Managing the Procurement, Tender Evaluation and Selection of sub-contractors and follow thru the implementation, forecasting, FI & FVO and contract closeout
  • Manage the QA Procedure and QC Compliance in implementation
  • Managing and tracking of procurement especially long lead item as well as bulk materials procurement and timely delivery
  • Ensures that all contractors comply with the safety regulations, local and employer required items. Investigates and ensures that any safety violations or deficiencies are immediately taken care of and has the authority to suspend the work or portions of the work until unsafe conditions are corrected and suitable preventive measures are implemented
  • Delegate to field staff such functional responsibilities for construction engineering, craft supervision, contract administration, construction control and field office administration as are appropriate and supervise their performance


• Minimum 5 to 15 years' relevant experience in Oil & Gas industry

• Degree or Diploma in Construction Management or related field

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

• Background in the construction industry

• Understanding of the construction industry and relevant regulations
