Jacobs Technology is seeking a Financial Analyst with an active Secret or higher clearance for the Reston, VA office.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for creation and analysis of complex invoices for a government customer. Must work proactively with other team members to ensure the accuracy and proper format of invoices for submittal. Candidate will be required to prepare invoices for posting in the corporate accounting system (CostPoint) and prepare invoice backup to be submitted to the government in standard, customer defined form. Candidate should be prepared to learn about all areas of the program to ensure he/she can identify and correct billing errors as they occur. Candidate will also be responsible for the collection and reconciliation of large quantities of vendor invoices that are billed to and delivered to the customer.

The candidate will be required to understand the flow of costs through the system to the final invoices. Adherence to specific deadlines is a must and accuracy of data is essential. Candidate should be come familiar with the burdens applied to costs on the invoice and be able to identify errors as well as understand the application of fee on the invoice. The candidate should have an understanding of Cost Plus, Fixed Price and Pass Thru contract types.

Must be an independent self-starter, highly detailed and deadline orientated. Must be able to understand customer requirements and to interpret the requirements into Jacobs financial systems. Establish working relationships with all levels of management, subcontractors, vendors and employees. Must be able to organize and structure duties to ensure completion of all internal and external customer requirements and able to prepare reports for monthly program management reviews. Extremely flexible and takes on responsibility, accountability and initiative.
  • Active secret or higher security clearance
  • BA or BS in Accounting/ Finance or other business appropriate disciplines from an accredited college or university.
  • 6-9 years experience in Accounting/Finance preferably in government contracting
  • Experience in Billing processes
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and finance.
  • Experience using CostPoint, Excel and Impromptu
  • Willingness to train and pursue job related certifications
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines
  • Motivation to learn outside the role to enhance personal performance and be able to prioritize duties

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Equipment and Machines:

General Office equipment including PC/Laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40 hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
