Jacobs Technology, Inc.'s TEIMS Group, is a premier provider of process-based systems and software engineering products and services. We focus on innovative solutions for our customers at the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Government organizations.

Jacobs is seeking to fill a Field Engineer position located in Ridgecrest, CA. This individual will o perate, maintain, and provide engineering support of Tactical Training Range (TTR) Systems and related electronics and computer subsystems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Support CMMI process development and implementation activities and provide inputs.
  • Support software development activities and maintain the administration of hardware and software configuration management systems.
  • Support hardware and software administration of the Tactical Air Range Integration Facility (TARIF).
  • Support installation, checkout, training, and documentation of new and modified systems at the Ranges.
  • Design upgrades and modifications to test and training ground systems as required.
  • Serve as a key member of the development and sustainment team and communicate effectively with project and program managers and other team members.
  • Work closely with system software developers / users of fielded systems and provide "front line" customer technical support.
  • Provide administration of computer operating system software, hardware and configuration management systems.
  • Perform the following tasks: recommend improvements, upgrades, and modifications; design and implement major field modifications; develop processes and procedures for operations and maintenance of fielded systems; determine logistics support requirements, generate required documentation, and drawings of fielded systems; provide operator and maintenance personnel training of said designed systems.
Experience Requirements:
  • Must have Security+ and operating system credentials.
  • Must have computer hardware integration experience including extensive knowledge of TTRs and their subsystems.
  • Must be able to produce and use schematic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair systems.
  • Possess knowledge of and experience with TTR ground systems.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of Personal Computer (PC) hardware and server operations with a strong background in administration of Windows based operating systems.
  • Possess knowledge of computer networks to include wiring, connectivity, and protocols with the ability to design and maintain such networks.
  • Understands security requirements and effectively receives and transfers classified media both internally and to Range organizations.

Educational Requirements:
  • AS Degree in electronics along with 7 years of similar work experience. May substitute 4 additional years of work experience for the AS Degree.

US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED; Must be able to secure and obtain a US government secret security clearance.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Working at a computer or desk (Considerations: sitting, eyes, hands). May involve long periods of sitting or standing depending on current tasking.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Exerts up 10 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Equipment and Machines:

Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential. Must be able to work within the shift hours of 0800 and 1700.

Other Essential Functions:
  1. Must be able to secure a security clearance.
  2. Must pass drug testing.
  3. Must be able to read and write effectively in English.
  4. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

  5. Must perform work activities requiring interaction, negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others.

  6. Travel requirements - Must be capable of traveling throughout the world.

  7. Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.
