Solar Project Development Analyst - Major US City

Position Overview

Seeking a mid-level Project & Market Analyst to join the solar team within Siemens centralized Distributed Energy Systems initiative.  The team's objective is to grow the distributed solar market for large energy consumers, primarily in the manufacturing, healthcare, municipal and higher education market sectors.  

The position will provide analytical bandwidth to build DG solar market strategies, support financial analysis and provide focused support during the project development process.

We are looking for independent and driven team players that are interested in joining a stable industry incumbent that is investing heavily into expanding its Distributed Energy offering.  


•Effectively interact with centralized team functions and zone level sales and operations resources to develop market strategies and support the project development process
•Investigate localized issues that affect DG solar including tariff structures, incentive programs, interconnection procedures and regulatory issues.
•Help develop localized go-to-market strategies for DG solar.
•Perform rate analyses modeling.
•Financial modeling, not necessarily limited to solar.  
•Performance modeling using PVsyst.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

•Minimum Bachelors degree in engineering, business or related field.
•Minimum of 4 years of project development and or industry experience specifically in the distributed energy/solar field.
•Strong quantitative skills and an adequate understanding of project economic analysis and financial modeling.  
•PVSYST modeling experience.
•Highly organized with an ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
•Team player - ability to collaborate with others to achieve mutual objectives.
•Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to interface with customers at the executive level.
•Willingness and ability to travel when necessary - Up to 25% travel possible.  
•Fluent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

•MBA or equivalent preferred
•Advanced financial modeling skills is a plus
•Demonstrable experience evaluating energy markets and developing go-to-market  strategies.  
•Existing familiarity with solar incentives programs across the US is a plus.
•General knowledge of distributed energy technologies including energy storage, distributed generation, combined heat and power is a plus.
