Job Description
A Ventilation Engineer Position (Level C) is available in the global Generator Engineering department as part of the Product Innovation and Evolution Group that focuses mainly on the execution of new apparatus generator design projects.  This role includes execution of overall generator and generator component design projects, specifically associated with the design and understanding of the fluid based physics within the generator.  
Responsibilities include analysis and design of complex fluid domain problems as it pertains to generator design, participating as a member of Integrated Project Teams and as such interacting with the Manufacturing, Supply Management, Service Engineering and Order Management Department, Customers and Suppliers.  The primary job tasks include:

•Computational Fluid Dynamics with FEA tools (CFX, Fluent, etc.)
•Overall generator flow network calculations
•Heat transfer calculations
•Blower/fan performance calculations and design
•Testing of prototype generators/scaled test rigs
•Technical report writing

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Primary requirements will include the use of CFD tools (CFX, Fluent, etc.) and internal tools to solve detailed analysis and understanding on various components inside the generator.  Additionally, a good fluency in the underlying physics of the fluid dynamics is required. Working knowledge of testing techniques for fluid flow and heat transfer are required too.
•Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters Degree or higher preferred)
•Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of Fluid Dynamics/CFD/Flow Networks.
•Advanced degree may substitute for experience.
•10-15% Travel

Preferred knowledge/skills include experience and proficiency with use of:

•Heat Transfer codes written in Fortran or C, ProE (NX or similar software) as a design tool for complex parts and assemblies,
•SAP for reviewing BOMs and ordering components,
•Teamcenter for creating drawings and accessing design information,
• Application of basic mechanical engineering disciplines such as structural analysis (ANSYS), thermal analysis, etc. to resolve a variety of engineering challenges.

Preferred candidate will have good project management and communication skills, an understanding of basic financial/accounting concepts and be able to operate effectively with different levels of a complex organization. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented and have a strategic mindset.
