Wind Turbine Blade Design Structure Engineer
Siemens Wind Power (SWP) is a dominant player in the global wind turbine market and maintains its position by offering state-of-the-art products made possible by a team of exceptional employees. SWP is currently seeking highly talented and motivated candidates for an entry level Wind Turbine Blade Design Structure Engineer position at our Boulder Center of Competence to design the next generation of turbine blades and blade technology.

Responsible for all new blade design at SWP, the Boulder Center of Competence brings together a multi-disciplinary group of engineering experts in aerodynamics, acoustics, structures, loads and controls that work concurrently to solve design and technology problems.

As a Wind Turbine Blade Design Structure Engineer, your primary tasks will cover:

• Conceptual/detailed design and structural analysis of modern, utility-scale, composite wind turbine blades.
• Multi-objective structural design optimization for function, cost and manufacturability.
• Effective collaboration and communication with aerodynamic, loads, controls and manufacturing engineers in a global, team-based environment.

Wind Turbine Blade Design Structure Engineer s are required to possess the following:

• Master's degree required. Educational background in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• Minimum one (1) year of industry work experience (internships & co-ops included).
• Excellent knowledge of composite structures and composite manufacturing methods.
• Computational modeling experience with state-of-the-art FEA/FEM solvers (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.).
• Programming experience in MATLAB, FORTRAN, C/C++, or similar.
• Strong desire, ability, and adaptability to learn and to solve difficult technical challenges through innovation, dedication and cooperation with a global team.
• Strong desire to develop and grow under the guidance of senior level engineers.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written reports.

Wind Turbine Blade Design Structure Engineers are desired to possess the following:

• Prior experience in the wind industry or large-scale composite design and manufacturing experience.
• Product design experience from concept through production.
• Knowledge of aeroelasticity, plate and shell theory, cross sectional analysis of composites beam and general beam theory.
• Knowledge of design optimization algorithms.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, PRO-E, etc.
• Reliability engineering and probabilistic design background and experience.
