Job Description
Position Overview

At Siemens Molecular Imaging we are the market leader, creating state-of-the-art Molecular Imaging (SPECT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT) scanners. We are currently pursuing an energetic software engineer who is passionate about working on world class capital medical equipment and who knows that each day you are helping people.  You will help develop the next generation of our SPECT/CT imaging system, within a large, multi-national software engineering team. The SPECT/CT imaging system is used in cardiology and oncology.  In this position you will be developing our user-facing applications, enhancing the end-users' overall experience, enhancing image acquisition and processing techniques and algorithms, and improving the serviceability of our systems.   

The ideal candidate should have experience developing software for medical devices. The ideal candidate will also have experience working cross-functionally with other engineers and should have knowledge of software development processes and techniques, such as Agile.  

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software focused on medical imaging applications
• Write component design and test specifications
• Work with other functional teams to integrate solutions into the product
• Conduct and participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements and design documents
• Create estimates for own work and provide input to complex feature estimations
• Develop proof of concept  to support new feature investigations and feasibility studies
• Manage changes to existing software products
• Design and develop test applications (component and unit testing)
• May provide general guidance or train lower level support staff.

Required Knowledge/Skills

• 3+ years of Software development experience in C#/.net on windows platform and exposure to C++ is preferred.
• Good understanding of software engineering practices and object-oriented design
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment as part of a globally distributed team
• Strong quality orientation and customer focus
• Occasional domestic and international travel required

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• Experience developing medical device software or developing software in other highly regulated environments

Education:  

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field required with a 2-5 years of experience. Experience could be substituted for advanced degree.

General Requirements

Participates in semi-complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of software. Supports the development of software test requirements for semi-complex modules under development, may execute semi-complex test specifications. Participates in providing estimates for semi-complex modules under development, and may estimate own work. Supports the reviewing of semi-complex customers' standards specification and other documentation to determine software engineering requirements. Participates in presentations of semi-complex technical findings and developments. Provides support with the software quality process through the execution of semi-complex module, subsystem and system test procedures.
