Job Description
Position Overview:

Siemens Industry Inc, Rolling Stock, is looking for a full-time Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join our Industrial Engineering Department. This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining manufacturing system/information networks, databases and supporting the automation of processes. The position is located in Sacramento, California and reports to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing Technologies.


- Serves as primary liaison between the organization and vendors for resolution of complex technical application issues (CNC / CMM machine data/communication issues). Maintains log of problems so that recurring problems can be reported for improving processes and procedures
- Participates in evaluating, designing, implementing complex database applications. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master fields and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.  Participates in establishing and maintaining semi-complex security and integrity controls. Participates in mining, processing, analyzing and interpreting the data and information from large databases.
- Evaluates potential impacts from security breaches and provides strategic and tactical guidance to business decision makers.
- Participates in performing semi-complex analysis of business goals, objectives and needs of the general business environment and may create semi-complex functional and technical specifications for systems (production networks, Siemens TV, Buzzer Systems etc). Develops business case (planning and initiation) responds to budget /plan changes to support needs of business.
o May participate or lead in facilities and equipment repairs with outside contractors. May support facility inspections and in the monitoring and scheduling of semi-complex facility related activities and service request calls.
- Supports training activities within the department to promote and ensure compliance.
o Supports administering procedures and systems for visitor access/control, employee identification and safeguard of company facilities. Participates in loss control investigations and preparation of reports.
- Participates in inspection of facilities and evaluates operational, environmental and safety issues and procedures. Participates with internal or external resources to develop facility layouts/specifications and making recommendations for facility related remodeling/upgrading.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

Required education:
- BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required past experience:
- Skills 5 plus years of successful experience in supporting a manufacturing  environment in Networking Data
Required travel:
-  less than 5 percent
Additional requirements:
- Good organizational skills.
- Successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
- Demonstrates a good grasp of knowledge and principles of field of specialization and applies through successful completion of assignments. Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular area of specialization.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft applications and resource planning systems
- Proficient in managing databases and network communication protocols

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree in a IT/Networking/Database Admin field, Alternatively certifications or experience may be considered.
Preferred past experience:
- 5 plus years of experience in networking, customer support, database management, technical support/debugging areas
- Knowledge of Siemens technologies - PLC, SiPass, Sinumerik, Setp7 is a plus
