Job Description
The Rotating Components department is seeking an experienced Aerodynamic design engineer. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic, product development environment to develop hot gas path and/or compressor components for industrial gas turbine engines at Siemens Energy in Orlando FL, Jupiter FL or Charlotte NC office. The primary responsibilities are definition of the gas path, definition of specific airfoil external shape, and subsequent calculation of the component efficiency.  The gas turbine efficiency is a primary consideration for customers when purchasing a gas turbine and this position therefore has a direct impact on Siemens competitive ability. This position is within the Large Gas Turbine rotation components engineering organization and reports to the Turbine Aero Manager (US).  


• 1D, 2D and 3D aerodynamic design/analysis of flowpath and blading for axial compressors and turbines
• Evaluation of 2D and 3D hot gas path, or compressor, maps and stability
• 3D flow analysis and 3D optimization of airfoils
• Development and implementation of aerodynamic design tools and methods
• Assessment and evaluation of field measurements
• Lead of external research and development programs
• Ability to succeed in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) environment for component development
• Ability to drive a team through tough technical challenges
• Lead subprojects in the field of developments including management of outsourcing specific tasks
• Support of manufacturing and component development
• Direct, supervise and coach internal and external people on the projects

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• University degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
• 8+ years turbine aerodynamic design/analysis experience, with a strong background in thermodynamics or fluid mechanics or a recent grad PhD with similarly relevant experience
• Significant design/analysis experience with components for turbo-machinery applications or similar applications
• Advanced knowledge of computational methods, i.e. numerical methods with proven expertise in aerodynamic methods and tools
• Demonstrated detail-oriented and innovative thinking mindset
• Strong mentorship skills
• Must be highly motivated
• Must have exceptional inter-personal skills and enjoy working with colleagues from different organizations and cultural background
• Required 10% of travel
• Business fluent in English

Note: This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of
Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.

• Project Management as well as intercultural experience
• Team building and communication skills
• Meanline and throughflow code experience is desired
