We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Criticality Safety Engineer.  In this position, a Principal Criticality Safety Engineer can be expected to be responsible for the following:

Provide technical leadership in Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) to ensure fissile materials are processed, stored, and handled safely so that personnel and property are protected against a nuclear criticality accident. Support plant operation by reviewing procedures and proposed plant modifications. Produce high quality documentation to establish limits and controls to support the NCS program.
  • Complete/continue NCS qualification.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design basis, safety analyses, and operations of plant systems.
  • Develop, revise, and review Criticality Safety Evaluations and Calculation Notes in accordance with plant guidelines for both normal and credible abnormal conditions.
  • Establish normal and credible abnormal conditions in cooperation with engineering and operations staff through the use of hazard analyses.
  • Review documentation such as procedures and drawings to ensure proper NCS implementation.
  • Review and actively develop new processes or proposed changes through the Configuration Control process.
  • Provide specific NCS professional interpretations and advice.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to support training as requested.
  • Mentor less-experienced NCS Engineers.
  • Provide NCS program development, mentoring, and implementation support as needed.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigations, and design reviews.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelors of Science in engineering or physics from an accredited university; Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university preferred
  • 10+ years in NCS at a Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Department of Energy licensed facility
  • Please provide any other skills necessary for job. Please try to keep to 5 bullets at the most.
  • Good writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in SCALE (KENO) or MCNP
