The position:

Reporting directly to the EMEA Human Resources Director, and matrix reporting to the VP &MD for Central Europe, this Human Resources Leader will be the senior-most HR leader responsible for this sub-region, and will play a key role as a strategic business partner to our German and Czech senior management teams.  This leader will be responsible for providing overall HR strategy, direction and operational leadership to the Westinghouse leadership in Germany & Czech Republic.  Additionally, this leader will set direction for the talent-related programs in the sub-region aligned to the Westinghouse global Human Resources strategy and Corporate standards.
Through a team in Germany of 4 HR professionals and associates supporting a business organisation with about 350 employees in the sub-region, the Human Resources Director will also be tasked with elevating and expanding the business's human resource capability to drive continued growth and foster a strong commitment to the recruitment and training/development of team members in all key roles.   
In addition to partnering with leadership across the sub-region, this Human Resources Leader will serve as a key strategic partner to the VP& MD for Central Europe, and also partner closely with Westinghouse HR leadership in EMEA on key initiatives that focus on driving significant human resources efficiencies across the region at an appropriate cost. 
Lastly, the successful candidate will be expected to leverage and build upon existing Westinghouse human resource programs, as well as create new processes and programs to support business strategies, enhance sales, and facilitate the change associated with a growth company. Global integration of Westinghouse programs implemented consistent with the German and Czech legal and cultural considerations will be a key success factor for this position.  This Human Resources Leader will be a key change agent for championing strong HR programs across the EMEA region, and also across Westinghouse globally.

Key Responsibilities:

We expect that the successful candidate will make a vital contribution to the growth strategies and organization capabilities of Westinghouse in the sub-region, and also contribute to our global Westinghouse capabilities.  More specifically, key responsibilities of this position will include:
  • Provide strategy and direction to the business leaders in the sub-region to ensure the effectiveness of the organization in achieving business objectives.
  • Ensure human resources processes deliver the business outcome required for all organizations in the sub-region.
  • Develop and implement talent acquisition and succession planning strategies in tight sync with Westinghouse corporate talent management strategies that support the organization's growth plans.
  • Evaluate and monitor performance management and compensation/benefits practices that fairly and competitively reward and recognize employee contributions.
  • Lead and innovate the processes to develop and retain key talent in accordance with business needs.
  • Support and enhance management capabilities to lead effectively and facilitate employee engagement.
  • Provide advice and guidance to business leaders to facilitate desired business outcomes.
  • Provide direction and oversight to the German HR team to ensure adherence to company processes and policies, legal/statutory requirements and sound HR practices.
  • Ensure good employee relations are maintained within the businesses in the sub-region.
  • Ensure right, effective, and smooth collaboration with the works council according to Works Council Constitution Act and Collective Bargaining Law.
  • Coordinate the implementation of global HR and HRIM processes to ensure efficiency and a "One Westinghouse" approach.
  • Partner with the HR leadership in EMEA to ensure HR service delivery optimization across Europe

Job Requirements
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Prospective candidates for theposition willacquired at least part of his/her experience in a global, multi-site growth oriented company, known for HR innovation and a commitment to best practices in the HR function.Equally important is that they have experience and flourish in a lean, hands-on, practical environment. They will also have experience in both field and corporate roles.Most importantly, candidates must be exceptionally well-skilled in the development and management of the HR function in a complex, results-oriented company.
In terms of technical expertise, prospective candidates will have a broad understanding of and appreciation for the technical and functional components of Human Resources, including: strategic HR planning, talent management, organizational development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, employee communications; and learning/development. The successful candidate will be a human resource generalist, with an excellent sense of both strategic thinking and execution excellence with a strong appreciation for the interplay between the two.

Required Experience and Competencies
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, business-focused human resources professional with a strong global background. This executive will likely have an advanced degree in Business and/or Human Resources, be professionally qualified and will have spent 10-15 years or more in progressively more responsible human resources leadership roles. Candidates should possess a degree in human resources, business or related field; advanced degree in Human Resources or MBA a plus. The executive will have the highest ethical standards and will have shown the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization.
