We currently have an exciting opportunity for a QA Specialist at one of our new nuclear construction projects in South Carolina.  This position is responsible for participating in Quality Audits, performing Surveillances, Assessments and Oversight activities ensuring adherence to Quality Assurance programs, Regulations, National Standards, contract requirements, construction and related supplier activities. Position is located at the V. C. Summer Site at Jenkinsville, SC with periodic travel required to supplier facilities for Surveillances.

In this position, a QA Specialist can also expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Perform evaluation through periodic Surveillances at the site and supplier's facility
  • Verify the achievement of quality and improve performance
  • Prompt reporting of findings to management
  • Develop Surveillance checklists and prepare subsequent Surveillance Reports
  • Develop Audit checklists and prepare subsequent Audit Reports
  • Provide input for recommendations and initiate program improvements
  • Lead team of personnel in the performance of site Surveillances, and Assessments
    travel to supplier's facilities - domestic and international
  • Lead Auditor - Recent Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Recent experience working with Nuclear QA Programs
  • Recent experience in construction or major modification of Nuclear facilities
  • Experience with supplier oversight activities, NRC and DOE regulated facilities, 10 CFR 50 appendix B, NQA-1, 10 CFR Parts 21 & 55 compliant QA Programs

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
This position requires a BS/BA degree from an accredited academic institution and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance and related fields and preferably hold P.E. Registration or ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer or an AS/AA and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience, or High School Diploma/General Education Development Equivalent (GED) and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in related fields; design, licensing, quality, construction or operation of nuclear facilities (e.g., power, waste, weapons, medical). At least two (2) years of this experience should be associated with the nuclear field.
  • Demonstrated skills with both written and oral communications to articulate complex situations
  • Ability to use office automation products including Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and complete multiple activities over a broad range of activities selected individuals shall have demonstrated capabilities in planning Inspections, examinations, and tests; and in evaluating the validity and acceptability of Inspection, test results and QA program implementation
  • Proficient in the use of Word and Excel
The candidate needs to possess strong computer skills and should demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills. Desired skill set should include a good working knowledge and understanding of 10CFR50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 QA program requirements.

Attention to detail, excellent and intermediate understanding of database functionality. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Manages time to meet objectives and recognizes possible impact on related functions. Able to understand and assess level of effort required for each project assignment and work within schedule to complete assignments. Professional skills with proactive problem solving abilities with a high quality work ethic; provides recommendations and dedicated to performing at a high level of quality. Contributes to achievement of team goals and promotes teamwork.

Candidate must possess working knowledge and understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NQA-1 QA Program requirements; 10 CFR Part 21 and 10 CFR Part 55 and associated codes and standards related to areas of QA/QC in Nuclear Engineering Design, Procurements and General Construction inclusive of project management practices to support Nuclear power plant construction.

Candidate should have experience on a previous nuclear construction site(s).
