GE Power Services is seeking a User Experience (UX) Design Technologist to join the Enterprise Technology team. In this role, you will team with others to create desirable software products and service experiences for Digital Thread programs. The role includes collaborating on requirements, designing effective user interfaces and experiences, and driving persona based designs.

Essential Responsibilities

The User Experience (UX) Design Technologist focuses on interactive design to drive the user experience strategy for the next-generation applications.

In addition, you will:
  • Rapidly build and iterate on polished, high-fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task
  • Drive persona based solutions, effective documentation, and communication of designs via user analysis, workflows, wireframes, leveraging UX principles
  • Create prototypes in front-end technologies (JavaScript, iOS, Android)
  • Analyze business scenarios, capabilities, and value stream maps and translate to technical specifications with effective user designs
  • Conduct design validation sessions with users and stakeholders to reveal deep insights about user and business needs, and addressing technical constraints
  • Use storyboards / narrative / wireframes / prototypes of varying fidelity to express how a product or service should behave to deliver capabilities in a way that supports user needs, goals, and workflows
  • Collaborate in prototype development, plan user testing, and evaluate the usability features
  • Conduct testing of software components and ensure quality of deliverables
  • Enhance the discussion of design focused thought and trends through participation in industry blogs, articles, and events
  • Develop functional prototypes to prove and sell concepts to development teams and senior leadership
  • Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers
  • Apply a lean mindset to drive accelerated deliverables in support of business data and analytics projects



Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or Engineering (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience with current information technologies)
  • Minimum of 2 years of designing & implementing UX designs in large, complex environments on web and mobile platforms

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong working knowledge of software code, development methodologies, and prototyping tools
  • Training or applied experience in user modeling, product design, and interaction design
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new tools and processes
  • Detailed understanding of technology infrastructure, application structures, and database technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver creative technical solutions
  • Experienced with web servers, SQL databases, integration technologies especially web services, effective application architectures and object oriented development, and software engineering methodologies
  • Training in cognitive science and graphic design
  • Proficient with agile methodologies, scrum master
  • Working experience in cloud environment
  • Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and a passion to expand technical expertise
  • Strong team player - collaborates well, partners to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of contemporary security practices
  • Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals
  • Project management and team leadership experience, project management certification
  • Experience with the GE Predix platform
