Job Overview:

This position will be located at our Woodlands Campus

The Director of Training and Development: Technical Programs will assume direct responsibility for leading a team of training specialists in developing a range of technical competencies across the business, including: engineering, project management, construction, fabrication, sales and supply chain. Working closely with subject matter experts across the organization, identify the key technical competencies to design and develop effective and engaging development programs, within the context of a learning framework. As part of the Organization Capability leadership team, provide thought leadership and contribute to initiatives and strategies that further build CB&I's workforce capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of training specialists in the development and delivery of technical training programs
  • Partner with operational leaders and subject management experts to analyze and identify the key technical competencies across disciplines and create targeted development programs that will further increase CB&I's competitive advantage through its technical capabilities.
  • Lead the planning, design, development and delivery of blended learning programs to develop technical competencies and to ensure on-the-job application and transfer of skills.
  • Ensure learning programs and materials are consistently reviewed for quality, relevance and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance, advice and learning expertise to the organization.
  • Oversee and manage the technical training academies, schedule, and plan.
  • Ensure effective communication across the organization
  • Manage the NCCER accreditation organization wide
  • Continually assess learning and development programs and using evaluation processes and key metrics
  • Ensure every initiative has clear business-focused aims to enable evaluation of effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in training and development in a fast-paced, matrix environment and leading teams to deliver exceptional results
  • Experience working with operations in an engineering, construction, or heavy industry environment
  • Extensive knowledge of learning and development principles and practices as they apply in an organizational context
  • Hands-on experience with instructional design methods, content development, facilitation and program evaluation
  • Relevant qualifications
