Job Overview:

Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. Use creativity and objectivity to perform studies and technical activities to arrive at the most cost effective, reliable technical solution. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience. Performs other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues
  • Monitor applicable regulatory requirements
  • Break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks
  • Publish papers in area of expertise
  • Establish scope, schedules and cost controls consistent with their discipline and compatible with client objectives.
  • Manage mid-sized technical projects and serve as the technical manager on projects
  • Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering
  • Engineering Reports are often a work product
  • Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering with major in structural engineering;
  • P.E. License
  • MS Structural Engineering, preferred.
  • 15 years minimum Industrial Power experience with emphasis on design and construction of buildings and/or heavy structures.
  • Previous combined cycle plant experience within field of expertise, preferred.
  • Familiar with structural analyses programs, such as, but not limited to StaadPro.
  • In-depth knowledge in ACI code, IBC , ASCE-7 and ASTM Standards
  • In-depth knowledge of structural steel codes, provisions and design guides from AISC.
  • In-depth knowledge in Concrete materials (including aggregates, cement, waters and other cementitious materials and/or chemical admixtures), Mix design of concrete including testing and evaluation.
  • Problem solving, non-destructive evaluation and development of repair/modified methods.
  • Experience in Structural design of concrete and steel structures and with knowledge of Microstation 2D and 3D drawing management.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting development of additional engineers
