Job Overview:

The Project Accountant will support CB&I's engineering group at a chemical processing facility. Works under minimal supervision to implement, troubleshoot project controls cost at multiple sites. Prepares cost and invoicing reports with details to support client and internal needs.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Overall cost tracking and cost management of capital projects on owner's sites.
  • Develop and implement project controls best practices.
  • Develop processes to manage costs that satisfy both client and internal requirements.
  • Track labor, materials, rentals, equipment, and subcontracts project costs.
  • Provide training to site management.
  • Corresponds with vendors/interdepartmental charges for invoicing.
  • Evaluate work flows and determine if improvements can be made.
  • Management of unbilled and accounts receivable for project sites.
  • Entry/revise project billing by project discipline per approved documentation.
  • Labor time entry uploads and validates charges per approved projects.
  • Develop and compile status reports.
  • Perform random audits on invoicing to validate charges per contract.
  • Work with corporate to manage allocations for project billing.
  • Management of open commitments and non-reimbursable costs.
  • Prepare scheduling and cost accounting reports for presentation to top management.
  • Reconcile budget vs. actual variances on work approval jobs. Assessment of project control needs prior to a capital project execution.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in project controls cost specialist field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and cost accounting systems.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to work within/support teams.
  • Ability to consistently meet multiple and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and proven ability to produce results on strict deadlines and willingness to learn.
  • Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to work and remain in the United States.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree.
  • Previous experience in the industrial industry.
