Job Overview:

Employee capable of managing any engineering function of previous levels in addition to supervising teams of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters on large projects. Lead Engineers at this level ensure the review, check, and approval of engineering and design deliverables including Professional Engineer certification as required. They also ensure that deliverables are in compliance with approved corporate procedures.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Develop and forecast staffing requirements
  • Work with Engineering Manager and Discipline Chief to staff project
  • Determine need and plan for training and development of team personnel
  • Gather and review applicable codes, standards, and vendor requirements and communicate requirements to project team
  • Review and update discipline design guidelines and standards while developing the CSA section of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Select and modify corporate standards to reflect project specific requirements
  • Capture and communicate best practices
  • Estimate specifications, requisition, calculation, and study quantities
  • Obtain estimate of drawing quantities for design deliverables from Lead Designer(s)
  • Develop budget requirements (i.e., time and materials)
  • Plan and schedule team activities
  • Monitor and manage team performance and budget compliance to Project Manager
  • Coordinate project activities across multiple office locations
  • Ensure specialist review of design to ensure compliance with corporate standards
  • Coordinate design and engineering activities with other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Provide support to field construction and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate with construction personnel to resolve RFIs, NCRs, , FCRs and E&DCR's
  • Analyze options to optimize cost and scheduling
  • Ensure drawing list is developed and maintained
  • Conceptually identify interface requirements for existing facility
  • Participate in constructability reviews
  • Lead business development, proposal generation, and associated activities
  • Supervise project closeout including as-built documentation
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • P.E. License in the state of North Carolina (or can obtain it thru reciprocity) Preferred MS in Construction Management or Civil-Structural Engineering
  • 20+ years of experience in Power Engineering and heavy industrial Projects with emphasis on Fossil Power.
  • Candidate must have prior Leadership experience on large Projects
  • Familiar with structural analyses programs, such as StaadPro, GT STRUDL, PCAMAT, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge in ACI code, IBC , ASCE-7 and ASTM Standards and familiar with local and State regulations
