Job Overview:

Job applicant should have direct on-site construction experience on Coal Combustible Residuals (CCR) ponds and landfills. Experience should include grading, solidification, dewatering, capping and all other tasks associated with their closure. Strong QC background and a working knowledge of CCR solidification and other civil construction techniques associated with CCR or other waste materials are a plus.

Construction Field Engineers help plan, direct, and execute work for all engineering disciplines in the field to support construction projects. As required, they interface and coordinate activities with home office engineering, field construction supervision, and field subcontractors. Additionally, they may support field procurement activities, system turnover activities, and system commissioning activities. As Construction Field Engineers progress through a field engineering career path, they will increase their knowledge in all construction field engineering operations and related disciplines. Additionally, employees are required to have general knowledge of construction processes along with a specific certified field engineering discipline.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Coordinate internally with other project execution disciplines and external suppliers to insure proper quality control planning is performed in advance of construction. Projects must be planned to insure compliance with internal Company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and contract specifications.
  • Observe construction practices as required for compliance of construction operations with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements. Record observations in a timely manner through preparation of required reports. Promptly report any non-conforming work.
  • Help create and/or gather required documents and information to support the successful completion of relevant construction activities. Prepare technical submittals as required and monitor the progress of submittals through the approval process as required by specific contract
  • Study and understand the project specifications, procedures, and relevant portions of the contract
  • Responsible for adhering to and promoting safe work practices
  • Help represent the construction team in project meeting settings
Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong QC background and a working knowledge of CCR solidification and other civil construction techniques associated with CCR or other waste materials are a plus.
  • Detailed technical knowledge in construction aspects associated with a specific engineering discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of the basic construction quality control process for civil projects
  • Ability to accurately interpret and understand specification requirements and requirements found in applicable laws and regulations
  • General technical knowledge in construction aspects of all civil construction-related engineering disciplines
  • Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of industry and company standards
  • A basic understanding of contracts and construction contractual requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of company construction procedures including subcontracting practices
  • Advanced knowledge of company and project safety requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups outside of Construction Field Engineering and the company
  • Ability to coordinate operations with construction team
  • Ability to provide informal coaching and guidance to others
  • Ability to resolve problems and seek assistance if necessary
  • Ability to take direction from project and departmental leadership
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application suite
  • Working knowledge of collaboration resources (i.e. SharePoint)
  • Working knowledge of turnover department software
  • Working knowledge of records management software
