You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying effective test automation solutions. To fulfill this role, you will apply appropriate automation technologies to meet the near and long term goals of the testing organization. Your job is not just to provide the automated tests or tools but to help accelerate the process of the testing and assure better quality in code.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
  • Provide technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest / practically applicable software development technologies and infrastructure.
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
  • Expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project. Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems.
  • Proactively shares information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness.
  • Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with Senior Architects, Data Scientists, Businesses, and Product Managers.
  • Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts.
  • Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs, and present technical ideas through white boarding.
  • Ensure that completed tasks are delivered to meet the product release goal. Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing, and code quality automation.
  • Make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment.
  • Serve as subject matter expert that meet standards and deliver the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
  • Assess application performance, then optimize and improve it through best coding practices to support software build, release, and deployment processes.
  • Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using appropriate chosen language.
  • Automate as much of the testing effort as possible with a minimum set of code/scripts.
  • Automation of acceptance testing as part of system deployment and feature acceptance.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience Computer Science

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles and TDD.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in web services (REST, SOAP, WSDL etc.), using Apache Commons Suite & Maven, SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.
  • Hands-on experience in Cloud Foundry.
  • Experience with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL Database is a big plus.
  • Experience with web development using AngularJS, Karma/Jasmine.
  • Experience in working with Spring Boot and micro services.
  • Passionate about learning, adopting and contributing to Open Source software community.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment practicing Scrum.
  • Willing to flex their muscles into other roles like code review, pair programming, QA.
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of high availability architecture, performance optimization, effective troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Oil & Gas, Power & Water) is a big plus.
  • Experience in using automation frameworks (e.g. of types Linear, Structured, Data-driven, Keyword-driven, Hybrid, and Agile automation framework) and using such framework as selenium, etc.
  • Experience in testing software in respect to load / performance to determine the behavior under stimulated load conditions.
