As the Senior Coatings Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting projects in the RDC special process coatings team, supporting infrastructure business technology and productivity initiatives. You will support industrialization and qualification of standardized coatings programs, applications and processes in support of our global repair services network including training operators in the use of coatings technology.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Coatings Specialist, you will test and validate the parameters, as well as develop documentation and visual tools to capture the "Best Practice" for the industrialization and operation of these processes in the network.
As the Senior Coatings Specialist, you will:
• Provide coating applications and tooling support for a team of engineers for all coating process aspects for standardized global processes, coatings related technology and productivity projects
• Work with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, MPE, design and systems engineering to provide support from an equipment and applications standpoint
• Support service programs, fulfillment, and NPI, for both CS and Transactional markets
• Execute testing for coatings programs in the RDC and provide feedback for improvement and industrialization of processes
• Maintain schedules for personal deliverables
• Be responsible for task completion and communication of status
• Perform assigned tasks including definition, approach, analysis, review, and implementation on schedule and within budget
• Make technical decisions by applications of specialized knowledge / skills, around machining and programming applications
• Direct experience with robotic programming
• Recommend technical approach, required resources, and schedule interfaces with other Engineering Departments, Centers of Excellence, Quality, Sourcing, Global Research Center, Suppliers etc. as required
• Interface with customer organizations to assure requirements are met
• Support qualification of processes on shop floor of local service center, including training of operators
• Communicate status and problems to project leaders and management
• Document results, participate in program reviews, and prepare invention disclosures where appropriate
• Provide training and direction to technicians, creating documentation and visual tools, where appropriate


• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Physical Sciences (or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 additional years of experience in an engineering field)
• Minimum of 10 years of thermal spray coatings experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

• Experience in manufacture or component repair for industrial gas turbines
