The GE Power GPS organization seeks an experienced project planner to provide support on Middle East projects. This position will take ownership in building and ultimately driving project schedules while proactively highlighting schedule execution issues to the project team.

Essential Responsibilities

Expected work include:

When assigned to support Tendering:
• Works with the ITO phase team to develop, review and finalize the concept schedule and TTS according to the required scope of work. Develop alternate TTS scenarios, as required.
• Ensures to include all required client interface milestones and payment milestones in the TTS, and to highlight relevant schedule risks associated to the TTS.
• Reviews the project control and reporting requirements within the customer specification and raises need of clarifications, deviations or budget adjustments.

During project start-up
• Work closely with the ITO planner to understand all tender assumptions in developing the integrated project schedule.
• Lead schedule baseline preparation of upcoming projects, aligning the work of the participant planners and schedulers of the projects (i.e. product planners, consortium planner, site scheduler).
• Owns the preparation of the sub-schedule(s) for the Plant Engineering, Procurement and Construction scope, involving the relevant project team members to establish adequate work sequences.
• Ensures that the contractual and key internal milestones are appropriately shown in the integrated project schedule, including payment and revenue milestones, client interfaces, design freezes, document turnover, civil turnover to erection, material handover and system turnover packages.
• Drives commitment of all project stakeholders to the baseline of the integrated project schedule, collecting records of the individual commitments.
• Implements internal and external planning reporting procedures, and ensures that the project team, partners, and customers understand and adhere to their reporting requirements.
• Implements a harmonized progress reporting system to provide the customer, project team, and senior management accurate progress status and forecasts.

During project Execution
• Leads the project update process of the integrated schedule and prepares the required internal and external project schedule reports, highlighting critical areas to the Project Director and project team.
• Oversees and works closely with all participating planners and schedulers (site planner, product planners, consortium partner) to monitor and consolidate their scopes, progress, and status into the integrated project schedule, and manages any interfaces issue that may arise.
• Regularly reviews and monitors project progress by checking the engineering progress from document management system, supplier monitoring reports, transport arrival on site, and site progress for civil, erection and commissioning.
• Proactively manages internal and external project activities by closely monitoring the critical paths and the project float.
• Ensures timely and accurate schedule forecasting, and identifies schedule risk and opportunities. Advises the project team and works closely with them to develop corrective action plans.
• Provides the monthly forecast and achievement of all payment milestones.
• Provides the monthly forecast and achievement of revenue recognition milestones to the project controller.
• Assists claim preparation with detailed schedules and analysis.
• Provides practical feedback to improve the standard schedule templates.


- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, with a focus in a technical / analytical field.
- Minimum 8 years' professional experience in Project Planning/Scheduling of which at least 5 must have been in large scale power plants - preferably turnkey projects.
- Experience in the creation of integrated schedule baselines with large multi-national organizations and an expert at usage of Primavera P6 software (MSP experience a plus)
- Site exposure/experience preferred
- Fluent written and spoken English, fluency in written and spoken Arabic.

- Must bring high energy with strong leadership skills and a history of satisfying internal and/or external customer needs.
- Turnkey project experience on large industrial projects preferably combined cycle power plants
- Demonstrated project commercial and proposal development knowledge
- Demonstrated experience in a position requiring cross-functional integration in a matrix environment with problem solving, negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Strong presentation and excellent communication skills. Self-motivated, excellent work prioritization and highly reliable.
- Proven experience working with diverse, global teams.
