In this role you will be responsible for supporting GE Power Generation Services by developing failure modes and identifying productivity programs that focus on GE, Alstom, or other OEM (oOEM) components. Initiatives will include development of concepts like Design for Reliability (DFR), Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), repair and replacement lifing, and analytics for risk management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Understand and assess risks associated with interval extensions and life of GE, Alstom, or oOEM hardware
  • Understand and evaluate the failure modes of a part based on review of used hardware, comparisons to similar GE hardware, and known repair and new make processes
  • Understand and sometimes modify the reliability risk models, to present a clear picture of the program's technical risk to the business
  • Support unit specific maintenance interval entitlement initiatives focused on flange-flange GT and balance of plant
  • Be responsible for timely execution of productivity programs in support of Power Services initiatives
  • Lead, investigate, quantify and develop opportunities for optimizing gas turbine asset utilization
  • Interact with cross-functional teams at multiple levels in the execution of productivity programs, to include but not limited to: Product Service, Product Lines, MYA Risk, Design COE, Reliability Engineering, Outage Planning, Customer Support Engineering, Application Engineering, Parts, Sourcing and RTCOE
  • Assess unit health through evaluation of unit operational data, data analytics, historical outage reports, fleet issues, and both fleet and unit specific part's distress modes/events history
  • Generate interval outage scope recommendations aligned to productivity cost and cycle targets, reliability and performance goals, and Customer value
  • Maintain a current level of awareness and understanding of fleet issues with associated corrective actions
  • Integrate LEAN Six Sigma, Simplification, Fast Works and other quality tools into day-to-day activities


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 4 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with turbomachinery in an engineering capacity

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Technical background in the design of gas turbine hot gas path or combustion hardware
  • Past experience with legacy Alstom, MHI, and Siemens hardware
  • Effective interpersonal, Communication skills, oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix global organization
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a dynamic business environment
  • Be able to connect the loose ends and present a comprehensive story.
  • Familiarity with Weibull++, or reliability estimates.
  • Ability to rapidly change directions on multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
  • Good Understanding of Engineering Principles and familiarity with Manufacturing Processes
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Green Belt Certified (GE employees only)
  • Master's Degree
