The Senior Technologist will be responsible for leading and executing projects to design, develop, prototype and implement new materials and manufacturing technologies in to wind turbine blade products and processes.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Technologist, you will:
• Own the overall technical development and implementation of a composite manufacturing technology project
• Develop materials and processes in laboratory or workshop as required
• Closely work with the aerodynamic, structural, tooling, CAD, sourcing, prototyping, materials and other members of the technology team through the project
• Provide regular project status updates and formal project reviews
• Conduct projects safely and in accordance with agreed internal process as required and external standards
• Support the management of the technical team in developing junior engineers and technicians, championing professional practices and standards and maintaining accurate data and reports
• Create and foster a collaborative, fast-paced, and quality-oriented environment
• Ensure operational excellence in the areas of integrity, controllership and compliance


• Qualified Chartered Engineer with a university degree in Engineering (mechanical, technical or material engineering) or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Extensive experience of advanced composites fabrication and prototyping experience

• Able to take materials and processes from coupon scale concept to large wind blade scale in a full industrial process
• Very proficient in the use of common composite processing techniques such as prepreg, pultrusion, Vacuum infusion, RTM and when to use each method
• Familiar with structural composite materials such as carbon, glass and aramid fibre, epoxy and polyurethane resin, core materials and the supply chain and processes for each
• Sound understanding of composite microstructure and relation to processing method
• Proficient in composite materials characterization methods and testing
• Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized and flexible
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Accomplishments that reflect leadership, teamwork, integrity and accountability
• Ability to coach and develop members of team
