As the Senior Outage Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting Outage Engineering in a readiness to serve capacity to facilitate cost effective mitigation of emergent issues coming from the GE fleet of industrial equipment. In this role, you will coordinate with various teams (Product Service, Power Generation Services, Product Engineering, etc.) to engineer and develop outage tools and processes that enable safe and productive mitigation of emergent issues.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Outage Engineer, you will collaborate with regional quality, productivity leaders and customers at power plant sites globally to identify optimum solutions for the emergent issues. You will have the ability to affect short-term and long-term business goals.

As the Senior Outage Engineer, you will:
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product and program requirements
  • Drive strategic programs consistent with internal and external stakeholder strategies
  • Collaborate with region quality leaders, product service engineers, and product platform engineers to robust solutions; these solutions will be for GT, (Gas Turbine) ST (Steam Turbine) and Generator and can include productivity tooling such as Smart outage, Robotics and simple hand tools that are implemented at a customer site
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure programs meet regional Critical to Quality (CTQ)'s
  • Collaborate with regional tooling centers and other internal stakeholders to drive commercialization and product acceptance through pilot / launch programs
  • Support Power Generation Services (PGS) New Product Introduction (NPI) Council and other op rhythms with PGS VP, Regions, Life Cycle Product Management, and other key functions / teams
  • Author detailed technical documents for programs lead
  • Lead design reviews with the Chief Engineer's office
  • Support strategic initiatives to incubate ideas (Fastworks) as requested
  • Support cross business initiatives, e.g., Growth Playbook, Blueprint, Product Catalogue, etc. as requested


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing, product service, power generation product engineering or field engineering, tooling development, power plan experience, project management
Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time to vendors, various GE facilities, & customer sites for tooling validation, training, and PGS (Power Generation Services) support

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's Degree in an engineering discipline from accredited university
  • Domain expertise in power generation services and equipment for GE and Non-GE steam turbine, generator, and gas turbines
  • Tooling experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills & confidence with executive presentations; ability to communicate with colleagues & customers at all levels
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills that can energize teams through inclusiveness and connection with people; possesses strong team building skills to promote positive morale
  • Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives
  • Knowledge and understanding of GE's and competitors products' capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet internal and external customer needs
  • Anticipates customer needs and ensures that they are met
  • Measures processes and performance through the customer's eyes
  • Strong Analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Self-starter with initiative to lead projects of cross- functional nature, with demonstrated ability to achieve completion and closure
  • Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests and requirements clearly and in a timely manner
  • Identifies, leverages, implements lessons learned from successes and failures / mistakes
  • Green Belt Certified or other equivalent quality certification
