As the Lead Front End Developer, Controls Technology, you will deliver critical applications utilizing modern web technologies and best practices. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to satisfy translating visual design, user goals, and interface solutions into clean, high quality web experiences. This includes Javascript, CSS, HTML, and any other client facing technologies.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Lead Front End Developer, Controls Technology, you will:
• Work closely with our team in GE Digital, network and collaborate with experts, enabling the adoption of the Predix technology stack (including Predix Machine / Edge), contemporary software development methodologies, best practices, and proven processes to deliver innovative software solutions
• Work in an Agile development environment
• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes of easy to navigate user interfaces (UI) that consists of web pages with graphics, icon, and color schemes
• Develop in a variety of languages, including JavaScript, Java
• Interact with Control Engineers to understand how to support, enhance, reconfigure and re-architecture their applications
• Stay current on software technologies available from the Open Source community and effectively communicate opportunities to leverage such technology
• Collaborate with internal customers / users in a global environment to fully understand user stories and use cases
• Own and manage multiple products at once, including the maintenance of legacy applications
• Create customized product documentation for fellow developers as well as users
• Act as the sole developer of a software application


• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college / university
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software development (enterprise, web-based, SOAs, etc) (OR a Master's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software development)


• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

• Ability and willingness to work out of an office located in Greenville, SC
• Ability and willingness to travel to GE and customer sites

Desired Characteristics

• Hands-on experience with modern web development technologies
• Good understanding of modern JavaScript tools and frameworks (Angular, jQuery, Polymer)
• Experience with Object Oriented JavaScript, AJAX request and JSON-based RESTful web services
• Good understanding of MVC (Model View Controller) architecture
• Knowledge of responsive design concepts & framework
• Experience with manual and automated test framework like Jasmine, JUnit, Karma, Selenium, Protractor
• Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) design tools for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• Power generation domain expertise - understanding of gas turbine and combined cycle power plant technology and operation
• Demonstrates knowledge of business' structure (P&Ls) & the levers that support the business goals
• Offers solutions for customer problems from a technology and business perspective
• Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
• Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas
• Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
• Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
• Highly-motivated, energetic, confident, self-starting personal characteristics
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with leadership with confidence and clarity
