Engineering Manager - Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls for the Environment Control Solutions (ECS) will be responsible for all aspects of Electrical & IC function for International and Domestic projects and will work closely with Engineering leader, global functional managers, and other stakeholders to define all functional and business goals & objectives of the team and is accountable to achieving the same.

Essential Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for ECS business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

  • Provide leadership and technical direction for Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls team on programs, projects and personnel.

  • Promote technical excellence within ECS team and support groups through design / technical review participation, lessons learned awareness and application, and technical innovation / growth fostering.

  • Work with Engineering Leadership to set expectations for the team & establish work group goals within the framework. Define appropriate work plans & priorities that are consistent with the ECS organization.

  • Drive the common initiatives/metrics such as Kaizen, Cost out, First Time Yield, DMP, productivity, quality and lean six sigma across the team.

  • Define roles & responsibilities for assigned personnel, conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning

  • Establish and maintain relationships with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being achieved

  • Establish / modify / monitor overall engineering program requirements, timing, and resources of ECS-Electrical & IC team and support the team to meet / exceed business objectives and goals.

  • Effectively communicate technical and financial aspects of ECS activities vertically and horizontally in the organization

  • Ensure positive actions are taken to encourage growth, technical development, and improved interpersonal skills. Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness of the section / organization to customer/business needs

  • Ensure compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented.

  • Ensure technical excellence, quality, timely completion of work & reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer or project needs

  • Communicate with management on technical, organizational and personnel issues. Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counselling.


  • Bachelors in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation) with excellent academic track record
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience managing teams with significant leadership responsibility
  • Passion for technology and people development; Customer focus & GE growth traits
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to interface effectively with global counterparts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (GE Employees Only)

    Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Proven experience working in multi-functional engineering teams focused on basic design definition and/or detailed engineering activities for power, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or similar type project execution efforts.
  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience leading or managing projects of various size, duration, and scope.
