The Piping Lead Engineer's role is:
• Prepare List of Deliverables and prepare the time schedule of these deliverables .
• Monitor and report progress, identify risks and plan risk mitigation actions.
• Compliance with the Quality and EHS rules from the project within the own area of responsibility
• Compliance with the work instructions and processes as applicable to Arrangement & Piping Layout.
• Proactively interact with inter-disciplinary functions for interface management.

Essential Responsibilities

• Compliance with the Quality and EHS rules from the project, business, sector and corporate within the own area of responsibility
• Support Head of Piping & Arrangement in department activities
• Ensures that he is always up to date for the available new technologies and the current codes and standards.
• The Lead engineer - Piping Layout has the technical and time schedule responsibility for all the deliverables related to the arrangement & piping discipline.
• Ensure that the design of his Engineering function is according to the applicable rules, regulations, codes and standards and according to good engineering practice especially with regard to Environmental aspects and Health & Safety of Site Personal, Operators, Maintenance personnel and third parties
• Integrating Client's operational and maintenance experiences into conceptual design
• Optimizing Plant Design by integrating Civil/ Steel requirement, process requirement as well as information from mechanical.
• Set-up and Maintenance of PDMS 3D Model in all stages of a project (concept through Study Phase up to DE)
• Performs pipe studies for complex systems in close co-operation with civil, support and stress engineer
• Comply with the forecast dates for information & drawings submission. Prepare the flat-file to follow-up the piping design progress .
• Check & comment external documents (Partners, Sub Contractors) and manage & check the interface data (type, dimensions, location, ...)
• Define the resources needs in line with the defined management strategy to maintain/develop a performing engineering group(e.g succession planning, competence mapping and related training etc.)
• React to any missing information
• Manage the team in charge of the engineering scope of supply and/or services assigned to him
• React to any site requirements and assume the necessary tasks to operate the NCR processing. Input the as-recorded information inside the tools and drawings
• Analyse client's comments and prepare answers duly argued
• Participate to the design review and the design freeze
• Ensure experience feedback from the project. Help to solve the closeout of the punch item list to obtain PAC and FAC and to organize archive of final documentation
• Takes over Area Lead function during DE / EPC Execution
• Participate in the technical development and cost reduction processes
• Participate in the definition and validation of engineering tools needed for his/her activity


• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in Arrangement / Piping/ Plant Design for Power island of power plants (preferably coal based thermal power plants) and good knowledge appropriate to the technical activity involved, including interface clarification beyond this activity with about 8-10 years of experience in arrangement planning of large thermal plants.
• Experience in working in 3D Plant Design environment of PDMS.
• Experience in interacting with cross functions and managing interfaces
• Experience in leading teams involving various piping disciplines and progress monitoring
• Needs to have a good understanding of sub-contractor technical management
• Needs to be able to develop a good and effective working relationship with group managers in other engineering disciplines, purchasing and supplier monitoring
• Needs to be able to lead problem solving/root cause analysis task force for problems arising from their scope and support other disciplines in this type of activity
