The Lead Design Certification and Compliance engineer works in GE Wind Engineering team in China to manage certifications & compliance of wind turbine with international and China regulatory agencies.
• Work with all levels of business operations to develop wind turbine certification strategy and lead overall certification program
• Work with global teams from all cross functional teams to develop design certification packages. Certification scope covers all Wind Turbine Platforms and the major turbine sub-systems (controls, rotor, machinery, electrical, tower) as well as single approval and site specific design assessments
• Interpret technical regulations/codes of different countries (eg. EU, China etc.), and make practical application to equipment designs.
• Work with CoE's to create product compliance evaluations for NPI's
• Liaise with Engineering/Services/Sourcing/Suppliers to ensure proper communication and fulfillment of compliance & certification requirements in a timely and cost effective manner
• Provide technical assistance/be responsible for agency liaison interface to communicate system designs, commercial priorities, and program schedule for compliance and certification issues during product development.
• Assist in resolving manufacturing, design and field problems for compliance & certification issues
• Generate, collect, control and maintain documentation of compliance/certification related plans, reports and final compliance/certification package
• Develop new processes required for executing compliance/certification requirements
• Develop clear compliance guides/input for design practices


• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering
• Minimum 3 years' experience in regulatory and certification
• Understanding of IEC, EU Regulations (ATEX, LV, EMC, Machinery)
• Proven PM skills to be able to manage multiple projects and schedules
• Willing to learn wind turbine system level knowledge
• Good interpersonal & communication skills to work with global cross functional teams.
• Flexible to travel to wind farm or supplier sites
• Systematic thinking mind-set, self-oriented, Flexible to assignment per business urgency
• Strong English oral/written communication skills
