The Onshore Wind Engineering Performance Subsystem team is responsible for defining performance requirements of wind turbines, ensuring that the design meets these requirements and developing/executing simulations. We are seeking a Lead Engineer for dynamic system modeling and simulation of GE's wind turbine products. The Lead Engineer will develop and employ multibody simulation software with the necessary level of fidelity to ensure reliable and robust wind turbine designs.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Performance Subsystem Lead Engineer you will:
• Develop and implement dynamic system modeling capability
• Execute multi-body simulations for new product development and readiness-to-serve activities
• Work closely with other subsystems and component COEs to understand modeling requirements & CTQs, for the purposes of correct modeling and to enable others to effectively use and run the simulations
• Ensure simulations meet accuracy requirements and recommend validation plans
• Leverage test data from component test, drivetrain test stands and prototype testing
• Work with the System Simulation team for coordinated use and development of modeling capability
• Contribute to and approve Performance Subsystem requirements (through Design Memos)
• Contribute to and approve customer facing technical documents
• Contribute to relevant design practice(s)



Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience (can include experience in graduate school in a relevant field of study or industry experience)
Minimum of 2 years of wind turbine engineering experience (can include experience in graduate school in a relevant field of study or industry experience)
Demonstrated direct experience in executing multi-body simulations in tools such as Adams, Simpack, SAMCEF, etc.

Desired Characteristics

• Demonstrated direct experience in executing multi-body simulations in tools such as Adams, Simpack, SAMCEF, etc.
Ability to work in a matrix organizational environment.
• System or product level mindset
• Graduate degree in engineering
• Development experience with commercial multi-body simulation software such as but not limited to ADAMS, Simpack, SAMCEF
• Experience with finite-element modeling such as but not limited to ANSYS
• Experience with CAD software such as but not limited to Unigraphics (NX), Catia, Solid Works
• Experience in atmospheric sciences and/or wind modeling, especially as applied to wind energy
• Strong technical aptitude
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
