As the IT System Design Analyst, you will be at the forefront of where big data, the industrial internet and analytics meet. This role will work technical system implementation with a broad scope and impact to the Power Services Engineering and Digital organizations. This role contributes to the overall business and functional strategy and will work to implement technical design within the software and infrastructure domains.

Essential Responsibilities

As the IT Systems Design Analyst, you will provide tactical execution and ownership for technical deliverables on new project implementations.

In addition, you will:
  • Troubleshoot, upgrade and execute technical implementations that provide optimal infrastructure, data integration and software solutions across the engineering systems
  • Enable world class infrastructure for Fleet Services engineering team. Partner with shared service groups to design and implement technical solutions
  • Ensure that an optimal design is implemented that will reduce support issues and provide optimal performance
  • Ensure conformance of established architecture, standards and practices
  • Support the analysis, requirement development, design, documentation and implementation infrastructure solutions for the Fleet Services team
  • Partner in the evaluation/implementation of third party software solutions; Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Participate in the preparation of long-range systems plans and assure that they are in concert with business objectives and goals


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering, other IT technical degree (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in implementing technical infrastructure or software solutions)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience implementing technical infrastructure or software solutions

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of network, server and storage operations
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing Concepts and Technologies
  • Experience in JAVA / J2EE / HTML5 / C / C++ / Microsfot.Net / XML / XSLT / SQL / JavaScript
  • Experience with big data applications: Hadoop, Hawq, Cassandra
  • Experience with ETL tools: Informatica, Talend, HVR
  • Knowledge of Power Plant Operations, SCADA Systems and Historians
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing system level and enterprise application architecture
