The Plant Process Engineer will be responsible for design & engineering of Capital Projects and Improvement Projects affecting plant, process equipment, bulk storage, automation and utility systems. You will drive Management of Change (MOC) processes, reliability & efficiency improvements of plant operations, support the implementation of safety in design (SID) in new projects and upgrading existing plant & facility & interface with other disciplines, user departments and Suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will:
  • Prepare / review engineering deliverables - drawings & documents such as - Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID, Process Datasheets, Equipment Specifications, design calculations, Cause & Effect Diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies, HAZOP Studies reports, Operation & Maintenance manuals etc. and provide necessary engineering inputs to the other disciplines and other departments
  • Write Function description, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) and impart training to Operating personnel
  • Drives Management of Change (MOC) Processes
  • Be responsible for vendor selection and qualifications based on engineering criteria
  • Review quotes and proposals and provide engineering guidance prior to purchase order issuance
  • Ensure all local code and compliance criteria are met for each project
  • Support construction, commissioning activities and startup
  • Provide engineering support for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Programs (RMP)
  • Provide engineering support to all EHS concerns
  • Perform statistical process studies
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of defects, lead troubleshooting and implement appropriate countermeasures
  • Make suggestions to improve processes in regards to quality, productivity and efficiency
  • Investigate and apply new technology
  • Act as a change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward world-class performance
  • Plan and implement process-engineering activities for new product development and current product support
  • Act as Plant engineering reviewer for any New Product Introduction (NPI) or Data Management Plan (DMP) projects
  • Be the primary contact for any 3rd party construction or engineering companies hired by GE
  • Be able to Conceive, Design, Justify, Procure, Manage Installation, and Close projects per the GE Water process
  • The position will be based in Beaumont, TX but will provide support to the Orange, TX facility and our other NAM facilities on an as needed basis


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of related industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and engineering of chemical plants

  • ISO Standards
  • Root Cause / Corrective Action Analysis
  • Change Control, MOC
