As a Sr. User Experience Designer, you will apply your knowledge of management and user experience design methodologies to help define, design and deliver regular releases of software products, with in planned schedule with superb quality. You will lead efforts to conduct user research, and collaborate with product management and engineering stakeholders to establish a user experience vision for multiple product offerings that address customer needs across multiple specialized business domains.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
  • Demonstrate very strong design leadership and people management skills, provide guidance and context while empowering and inspiring the team to create world-class design solutions
  • Lead and drive effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering
  • Facilitate design workshops that include cross functional teams to envision product features. Often requiring creativity at eliciting balanced perspective among participants, at taking participants outside their comfort zone, and at making activities fun to keep the team engaged.
  • Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends
  • Work in active partnership with colleagues across functional areas to define, plan, design, develop and deploy software-as-a-service products, establishing a new category of enterprise-grade industrial internet of things software
  • Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of user experience designers
  • Work with product owners across the businesses to understand market needs & vision; work with teams to quickly translate that vision into designs for software
  • Participate in and influence the business-wide discussions relative to the direction of design and user experience
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile / Lean UX methodologies
  • Guide effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and user stories
  • Work with product managers and architects to develop multi generation software product plans
  • Work directly with customers and users to understand business and technical needs
  • Drive quality, consistency and efficiency across design and engineering teams, create and leverage design patterns
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in user experience design OR Master's degree with 10 years of experience in user experience design

  • Must be willing to travel 25%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
