  • Established as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the areas of welding, metallurgy and corrosion
  • Thorough knowledge in using industrial codes and standards (i.e. ASME, ASTM, API, MSS). No Supervision required.
  • Extremely knowledgeable in the development and maintenance of welding, metallurgy and corrosion specifications and liaison with all associated disciplines in order to complete and issue the specifications.
  • Capable of checking Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs).
  • Extremely knowledgeable in the preparation of specifications for projects in the area of metallurgy and corrosion.
  • Review and verification of bid and requisition packages, vendor data submittals, piping specifications, mechanical data sheets or welding procedures.
  • Meet project schedules.
  • Handle fabrication problems and fitness for service issues.
  • Review and check of repair methods in conjunction with non-metallic problem resolution and trouble shooting of fabricated equipment, piping and structural steel.
  • Perform various project activities to assist the Piping Engineering Lead
  • Coordinate with the other project team members concerning common elements and act as liaison with other offices.
  • Coordinate with and direct other Group and Department members specifically, metallurgists, welding engineers, non-metals materials engineers/specialists, and piping specifications engineers.
  • Keen safety awareness

  • 20+ years' total experience in the areas of welding, metallurgy and corrosion.
  • 10+ years' experience of oil & gas and chemical industry in the areas of welding, metallurgy and corrosion.
  • Job site or fabrication shop experience preferred.
  • BS or MS in Materials or Metallurgy Engineering.
  • Large capital project experience.
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of relevant ASME, API, NACE and MTI requirements
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of all relevant welding specification codes
  • Thoroughly knowledge of non-metallics to include coatings, insulation, fireproofing, refractory, plastics and elastomers as they apply to refining, chemical and petrochemical environments.
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working understanding with available corrosion software (i.e. Predict 6).
