With a world-class workforce, the Application Center located in Mölndal and Olofström, has primary global responsibility for spot welding: to develop ABB's existing portfolio to meet future needs, to improve market planning, and to provide outstanding sales and technical support to our local ABB units around the world. The majority of the Application Center's customers are in the automotive industry, and it is currently experiencing strong order growth in Sweden and overseas, with a growing proportion of turnover now registered in export markets. This position offers excellent future promotion prospects within ABB Robotics in Sweden, or indeed with ABB Robotics globally.

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager for our Application Center to manage and lead a team of highly skilled co-workers in developing market leading solutions, delivering customer satisfaction, as well as executing our strategic initiatives within engineering and operations.

You will report directly to the Manager of the Spot Welding Application Center. Your task will be to manage personnel and all operational activities. Operational Team Leaders for specific functions will provide support. You will collaborate with the Application Center Manager & Sales Team for definition and execution of marketing and sales activities.

You will be responsible for a variety of areas relating to personnel, including health and safety, individual appraisals, salary levels, and lead the department through, for example, regular meetings. On the operational side, you will be expected to set budgeting, and be involved in forecasting for the entire Application Center, and you will be responsible for the premises and facilities, ensuring that all necessary equipment is available. You will need to co-ordinate closely with the Supply Chain Manager, with whom you will share operational resources.

Other duties will include miscellaneous administration tasks, for example, managing travel expenses and approving supplier invoices. Furthermore, you will need to ensure the implementation of our operational development programme, and our R&D projects, along with day-to-day problem solving. You are the natural and most appreciated point of contact for customers whenever needed, in re-active and pro-active situations.

You have a highly developed customer and business focus, and by extension an unwavering drive to achieve results. As a natural leader, you are able to coach and develop others. To excel in this role, you will also have to be an excellent networker. Fluency in English is required, knowledge of other languages, especially Swedish, is desirable.

Ideally, you have a proven track record in project leadership, or other leadership role, along with sector-specific experience in for, for example, sales and marketing. A feel for the global marketplace, with previous experience of working in different countries, cultures, and languages will be considered highly advantageous.

It is possible that you currently already work with ABB, or in the automotive industry, (for an OEM or T1), or similar international automation business, and you are based either in Sweden or abroad.

A university education is preferred, as are qualifications in leadership and sales and marketing. However, leadership skills based on professional experience of the sector are of the utmost importance.
