Sr PGD Technical Services Specialist -Advanced Applications Software Developer
Software development (programmer) for data analysis applications intended to early detect and prevent power plant equipment failures and the development of applications that utilize mathematical algorithms to detect the symptoms of failure. Typically utilizing C##, .Net framework, Entity Framework, MS SQL, and Web Services technologies. Under limited guidance, position has responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments. Plans and develops technical projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection for areas for investigation and development of novel concepts. Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside their organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field. Assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations. Job may include other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing new and update existing data analysis applications to support predictive monitoring and data analysis of power plants.
- Develop applications that analyze data from equipment failure and develop methods to detect failure signature.
Position's accountabilities include interacting and supporting a power plant operations control center that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Occasional call outs and occasional travel required.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM, may require occasional after hours support/callout and occasional travel.
Travel: 5% to Power Generation Division USA regions
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Sciences strongly preferred and five or more years of experience in diagnostic application development. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the development of equipment diagnostic mathematical and statistical algorithms. Power plant equipment knowledge is highly desired. Development Languages Required: C#, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, Web Services, and SQL database administration.
- Engineering degree or substantial related technical experience.
- Thorough understanding of the engineering principals of power plant type equipment.
- Experience in developing failure detection methods and applications
