As the Water Permitting Specialist, you will have the chance to provide technical support on projects using your understanding of basic chemistry, water and soil sampling, laboratory analytical methods and permit documents. Working with other members our team, you'll learn the permitting requirements of City and State Water Board agencies as well as all of the project specific processes, communication pathways and complex program structure. During your time with us, you will also have the opportunity to assist on up to 50 permitting projects per year including planning, construction and permit closeout phases; and prepare permit applications, sampling plans, discharge summaries, soil and water management plans, and permit closeout documents. Our Water Permitting Specialists:
 
  • Provide technical support on projects using their understanding of basic chemistry, water and soil sampling, laboratory analytical methods and permit documents.
  • Work independently and effectively with a diverse project team, including client management, engineers, planners, and biologists, as well as regulatory agencies.
  • Learn the permitting requirements of City and State Water Board agencies as well as all of the project specific processes, communication pathways and complex program structures.
  • Assist Water Specialist team on up to 50 permitting projects per year including planning, construction and permit closeout phases; and prepare permit applications, sampling plans, discharge summaries, soil and water management plans, and permit closeout documents.
  • Travel up to 25% to various field sites in Northern, CA area.


The minimum qualifications for this position are:
  • B.S. degree in Geosciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years experience in environmental consulting and/or resource agency experience and experience working directly with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse project team, including client management, engineers, planners, and biologists, as well as regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to various field sites in Northern CA area.


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
  • 3-5 years experience in environmental consulting and/or resource agency experience and experience working directly with clients.
  • Ability to adaptively manage project and schedule changes.
  • Strong self-starter with ability to balance work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of water quality regulations, and experience working in regulatory compliance; experience working with the Regional Water Boards is preferred.
