Primary Job Responsibilities:

The internship, in the field of Industrial Structural Engineering, will provide the college student with on the job training that will include relevant work experiences such as the following:

  • Engineering software training on RISA 2D, RISA 3D, RISAFoundation, RISAConnection, RISABase, RISASection, & Hilti PROFIS including tutorials, replication of past projects, and parallel engineering on current projects
  • Safety training on BeyondZero Orientation, Alert Driving, Office Safety, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Fall Protection, Ladder/Stairway, & Lock Out Tag Out
  • Parallel engineering shadowing sessions with all engineers on the team
  • Shadowing sessions with all designers on the team
  • Visiting industrial facilities, taking field measurements and field notes
  • Participation in preparation for and presentations in monthly department meetings
  • Review of proposal work processes
  • Review of staffing forecasting work processes
General activities include the following:
  • Performing routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision
  • Utilizing engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Collecting and preparing data for evaluation
  • Assisting in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations
  • Handling various administrative duties
  • Providing support to staff members as needed

  • Internship is for students between Senior and Masters years in an accredited Structural Engineering program - candidates that have/or will have completed all undergrad structural engineering coursework should have:
    • Introductory & advanced courses in steel and concrete (required)
    • Courses in foundation/soils, masonry, and wood (preferred)
  • Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word experience required
  • RISA 3D experience preferred
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher required
  • No relocation or temporary living assistance being offered
