A talented and diversified accounting department provides great value to the organization and its stakeholders. Due to the continual growth of our energy generation business, NEER desires to recruit accounting and finance professionals at the beginning of their careers and develop them into the leaders of tomorrow. This program will expose the Staff Accountant to the critical accounting functions in the operations of electricity-generating facilities and the most exciting sectors of the energy industry. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with experts in various fields while learning the accounting principles in the areas of revenue recognition, accounts receivable, long-lived assets, operating and maintenance expenses, financing activities, financial reporting, and forecasting. A graduate of the program will be well positioned for a successful career in the accounting and finance organization.

Under the supervision of a trained management team, the candidate must:
  • Learn and understand the business (key operational drivers and accounting issues for assigned functional area and the related market forces)
  • Understand the accounting impact of all relevant transactions and documents and ensure compliance with current GAAP
  • Demonstrate a strong drive to succeed and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Meet all assigned deadlines related to the accounting, forecasting and reporting processes
  • Build strong working relationships across the organization to ensure the proper accounting, consolidation and reporting of all assigned functional areas
  • Support various internal and external reporting functions (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, management reporting, etc)
  • Comply with all Sox processes within assigned functional area
  • Execute special projects (e.g., software implementations, Six Sigma projects, and implementation of new accounting standards)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting preferred, with advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
