Job Description
We are seeking a Tax Professional to join the International income tax compliance team. This professional will have several key responsibilities including: (1) preparation of foreign informational returns, federal, state and provincial income tax returns primarily focused on the un-regulated side of the business; (2) working closely with the Tax Accounting team to provide assistance in the tax provision and tax depreciation areas, and (3) working closely with Information Management and the tax technology team to continue to streamline processes related to the foreign tax return calculations. This position will help ensure that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains "Best in Class" with regards to the quality and efficiency of our foreign income tax compliance process.

Working under the direction of the Canadian Tax Manager, this position will be responsible for the calculations of book/tax differences for our non-regulated Competitive business. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple business units within the organization in order to gather data to calculate book/tax differences. The candidate will help prepare related federal, state and informational foreign income tax returns (namely F1120, F5471, F8865, F8858s), assist with the Return to Provision analysis, including assisting with Canadian tax return work-paper preparation, for the Canadian group of entities. Candidate will also be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements of our tax data warehouse work-papers. In addition, candidate will help support federal, state and Canadian income tax audits under the supervision of the Tax Director and Tax Manager. The candidate will also be involved in other special projects and initiatives undertaken by the team. Extended Hours may be necessary periodically.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Ideal candidate will have a Bachelors' degree in accounting, plus 3 years of federal and state income tax experience. Experience in international tax compliance a plus. Candidates with 2 years of tax experience with a CPA license and or MST will also be considered.
  • The candidate should possess well developed technical skills with an ability to identify and document both issues and proposed solutions.
  • Proficient verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing workload
  • Ability to perform analysis on data and utilize analysis to make tax technical and business decisions
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on both analytical and research tools; experience with Corp tax software, SAP, BPC a plus.
  • Desire to seek new and challenging tasks - self-starter mentality

Preferred Qualifications:
High School Grad / GED:Required;Bachelor's Degree:Required;Experience:3 years;

CPA and Advanced degree- Preferred
