Lineman/Journeyman will be expected to safely perform all associated tasks with the construction and maintenance of all overhead and underground facilities (excluding vaults, manholes, and hot compounds). They must be able to safely trouble shoot and repair all distribution circuits and equipment. Be able to prepare all associated paperwork and be comfortable with embracing new technology in the utility field.

Lineman/Journeyman may work as a member of a crew of 2 or more co-workers, or work under a Senior Lineman. Linemen are responsible for working all jobs in accordance with the company safety requirements, design standards and work methods.

Required Qualifications:
  • May be required to work extended hours in inclement weather, may be required to travel throughout the system in cases of emergencies, storms, to restore the system.
  • Must have completed an accredited apprenticeship program from a recognized and certified utility, contractor or school and be able to provide a verifiable certification of completion OR must have held the Line Specialist classification at Florida Power & Light for a minimum of one year.
  • Must be proficient with live line maintenance, including the use of hot sticks and gloving procedures.
  • Must possess climbing skills and demonstrate the skills needed to complete non accessible pole hardware replacement and transfers while in a climbing mode.
  • Must be able to work in direct sunlight, inclement weather or at night.
  • Must be physically able to do all assigned tasks that relate to line work while working from a pole with climbing gear, bucket truck or while on the ground.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of verifiable work experience as a Journeyman Class 1 or A level craft worker.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that they can follow all OSHA Federal Register work requirements as pertaining to the trade.
