Sr Attorney - State Regulatory
Experienced state energy regulatory attorney who works as member of team of attorneys and non-attorney support personnel on engagements in Florida and across North America. Working with business representatives from a wide area of disciplines including accounting, finance, regulatory affairs, rate design, engineering, utility system planning and modeling, competitive electric transmission development and renewable energy development. Partners with and advises renewable energy developers and NextEra Energy management to obtain regulatory approval of clean energy and competitive electric transmission projects. Prepares and contributes to regulatory legal pleadings and briefs. Assists electric energy company technical and policy witnesses, and expert witnesses, in preparation of pre-filed testimony.
Drafts objections and responses to discovery requests, in consultation with company business representatives. Researches and writes memoranda concerning state regulatory statutes, regulations and cases.
Prepares for and helps present witness testimony and exhibits in contested evidentiary hearings before state energy regulatory commissions. Understands and helps harmonize NextEra Energy enterprise-wide view of state regulatory legal and policy positions. Works with established and new outside state regulatory legal counsel to obtain needed outside assistance and to meet legal budget expectations.
Extensive experience presenting client's energy technical, economics, management and planning experts
Experience organizing and leading energy regulatory litigation teams
Strong electric utility-side regulatory litigation experience
Experienced in advocating for projects and positions that advance state and federal clean energy policies and customer interests, combined with accountability to shareholders
Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel to a budget
Member in Good Standing of State Bar:Yes;High School Grad / GED:Required;Juris Doc:Required;Bachelor's Degree:Required;Experience:5 years;
