Technical Specialist I - T/S (Seismic Technician)- This position performs testing of quality related material and equipment in accordance with Federal, Nuclear Regulatory, and Corporate policies and procedures. This position performs specialized testing of items to ensure that they are compliant to governing policies and procedures.

This position requires a demonstration of proficiency or ability to learn automated purchasing, materials and receiving management computer systems (familiarity and ability to use VENTYX Asset Suite/INDUS Passport is desired).

This position will focus on specialized testing of nuclear components. Direct experience using a tri-axial seismic table and control software (VibrationVIEW and VR9500) in accordance with IEEE 344 is preferred. Fixture machining and electrical and instrument/controls bench testing experience is also preferred.

Responsibilities include:
  • Operating the seismic test table including maintenance and calibration of the table
  • Performing seismic testing of plant material through performance of a Commercial Grade Dedication plan
  • Calibrating I&C systems and equipment, including analytic equipment (control system)
  • Performing Commercial Grade Item Dedication testing and inspection activities per test plans
  • Working with electrical equipment, electronics, schematics, chemistry, physics, controls and instrumentation
  • Using various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices
  • Establishing inspection/testing priorities in alignment with plant priorities
  • Interpreting and documenting measurements according to Engineering product test plans
  • Generating and dispositioning Over, Short, Damaged, Discrepant (OSDD) Reports caused by non-conformance of material(s) inspected/tested
  • Understanding and applying Quality concepts, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, LEAN methodology, Preventive/Corrective action, and Statistics
  • Obtaining, measuring and preparing samples for testing
  • Acquiring data on samples and inputting information into lab database/spread sheets
  • Perform material testing in accordance with test procedures, often using complex equipment, under the direction of Engineering and other professionals
  • Analyzing, recording and reporting test results
  • Creating charts, graphs and other data for reports
  • Setting up, operating and cleaning laboratories and scientific equipment
  • Coordinate work activities with other team members on technical subjects across job families
  • Making recommendations to Management for program improvements
  • Maintaining effective communication with internal and external customers
  • Interfacing with Nuclear Oversight in matters related to the QA Program and the Quality Assurance Topical Report
  • Supporting Nuclear's Corrective Action Program
  • Meeting testing timelines for urgent test projects. This may require overtime on short notice
  • Working non-standard (including shift work) or extended work hours when necessary
  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience; Bachelor's degree preferred (Engineering, Engineering Technology preferred)
  • Experience in test lab required (Electrical, mechanical, or metallurgical - Education lab experience is acceptable)
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Position may be a second shift job on regular basis depending on work load
  • Familiarity with machining, able to read blueprints, able to use measuring equipment and have strong mechanical ability.
